Its the combination of real life dumb and basketball dumb that hurts. If Dorsey was a reasonably smart guy that just didnt seem to "get it" on the court (Steve Novak), could stand to be more patient. Not understanding basketball then having learning difficulty on top of that is is just a big time limiting factor. Shaq and Yao, watch an offense run through Shaq and you see he's more alert and more sharper with what he's doing than Yao. Great hands, great target, knows when to pass back out and re-position without much wasted motion. More aware when traffic's around him. Not a great interior passer like Vlade and Sabonis but finds the cutters and shooters well enough. Yao is a willing facilitator and has his moments, but sometimes his cerebral game is as slow as his body.
They should play him regardless... If he can play, he can play; if he shows potential, maybe he can be a trade chip.
