Judging on what the Rockets have said over the last year about Dorsey, it isnt just lack of smarts, its lack of work ethic also.

You may be able to get by without one or the other, but not both simultaneously.

i've been saying it before, dorsey is just a younger and bulkier version of hayes, they pretty much have the same kinda game, no offense basically, not to mention both are undersized power forwards.

Couldn't disagree more. Chuck is very, very smart. BB IQ off the charts. Dorsey doesn't come close, which doesn't mean he might not have a career in the league, but does mean that they are quite different. Also, Dorsey isn't "undersized" for a 4. Chuck certainly is.

Clyde Drexler disagrees. So does Charles Barkley. Neither of whom are particularly smart, nor did they have ANY work ethic. Clyde admitted openly that he did not practice. Chuck was openly criticized for his lack of work ethic by his own best friend, Michael Jordan.

    Talent is the end game.

Work ethic + talent = allstar level
Work ethic + IQ + talent = possible HOF
Talent + opportunity = possible long career

While there are most assuredly guys on the streets with talent that never sniffed the nba, don't believe for a second its simply because they lack "smarts". Often its about opportunity (see: Gaines).

And for whomever brought up Stromile Swift, thank you for bolstering my point. Swift is a bball and personal moron but he's still collecting fat checks because in the end, he has talent and doesn't rock the boat so much as to make himself cancerous to his teams.

The article basically stated the Rockets don't see him as a rotation player this season. Now given that Yao's out and we're undersized I just don't have any hope for the guy.

The fascination with Dorsey around here just blows my mind.

Agreed. If he can't make the team now, it's doubtful that he ever will, and that applies to every young player in the organization. Right now, there's probably not a better team in the NBA for inexperienced players than the Rockets. Yes, they are just that desperate.

    Joey Dorsey's girl is FINE

    i mean just plain FINE

there were plenty of girls that had nice (and fake) bodies

but when it came to looks

Dorsey's girl wins it in a LANDSLIDE

RAID, Carl Herrera and Kwame can verify this

She was sitting behind me right next to RAID and Kwame hopefully they took pictures.

I only knew it was Joey's girl because I was out in the lobby charging my phone up (so I couldnt take one there plus I wouldnt want to offend a man of Joey Dorsey's size...twittering, taking pics posting drains my battery up) and Joey walked out to buy some nachos and a drink for her and gave her a quick kiss

very petite girl i mean Joey could probably wrap his entire hand around her waist.

I'll ask raid if he has any pics of her, I couldnt take of her during the game without having it be obvious as well.

    Agreed.

Frankly, Dorsey should be given every opportunity possible to show what he has. Morey made a 2yr contractual investment into Dorsey, so it makes sense that Joey be given every opportunity right now to fail/succeed.

As far as i am concerned this entire upcoming season is toast. Whether or not Yao and TMac BOTH come back (highly, highly improbable) midseason or later, the fact of the matter is that we would have likely had a horrible 1st half of the season. Additionally, Mac would've missed a year of bball. Yao, about 3/4 year. Anyone who thinks an nba player can miss that kind of time with a SERIOUS injury, come back midseason, and hit the ground running, is absolutely delusional. It'll take time to get into any kind of shape. It'll take time to get into game shape. Lastly it'll take time to gel with their teammates who wouldve been running a different version of the offense than they're used to. Nevermind the possible rehab setbacks... How much time? Probably enough to seal our lottery seeding.

At this point, we need to continue shaping our young guys (dorsey, brooks, lowry, white, landry, chase, taylor) while looking to parlay Mac + whatever necessary into another franchise player or MULTIPLE high draft picks. These young guns are our future role players to our yet-to-be-found franchise players.

Guys like chuck, shane, luis, and mac are all either plateaued or about to start their decline. That's ok, but if we need to move one or all of them for the purpose of high picks &/or franchise player(s), then they have to go. The future is NOW.

I don't see why they wouldnt give Dorsey 10-15 mins a game to see what he can do. What do they have to lose?

And to say that he hasn't "dominated" in summer league is BS. He is doing great as far as i can tell. Offensively he needs work but his rebounding and defense are fine.

Just give the guy a chance. Hopefully he will play well in the preseason also.
