I also know that giving up three first round picks for a scrub is not easy. I'm pissed!! It's late, so hopefuly the young ones aren't paying attention.
talk about bad timing.......Eddie needs to get his head on straight and figure out what's more important to him. He's young yes, but he's been in the league for 3 seasons, he knows what is required of him......there are no excuses for this kind of behavior any more. Grow up Eddie, ur in the NBA now, stupid stuff like this wont fly.
Eddie just wanted a day off from practice and playing ball. And what does he get in return??? Another 2 days off!! Exactly what he wants. When are some of you going to wake up and realize that this kid doesn't give a crap about basketball, doesn't really want to improve his game, and really is just a waste of time to the Rockets organization and coaching staff. What a waste of potential.
Except that if he's a washout here on a team that's missed the playoffs for 4 straight years - one that's given him EVERY opportunity and chance to succeed - one that flushed THREE first round picks to get him, who do you suppose would want him?
I also don't see the harm in extending him to a 4th year. That way, in case he does get his act together, we are predicted. If he doesn't, unless he regresses, then we will be paying 2-3 MIL for a bench player who can block some shots and rebound a lil.
Great post Sane. From now on, only actions & results should matter. In EG's case both have been less than stellar much less acceptable. I repeat: They gave up on 3 first round picks to get this guy and he has yet to show anything that to justify that decision. JVG has a right to be steamed. After all this is a team that has shown no inclination to play hard and try to improve up to this point in time. Adn this is just the preseason. If EG cannot be counted on now in preseason, what do you all suppose will happen when things get really bad during the season as they are sure to do? BTW, I was with you until that last line about Oakley .
Suspended indefinitely ... Sounds like the right thing to do to me. We can't have this on this team this year. If he makes it back quick then great ... but if he gone for awhile .. it is probably the best thing for the Rockets to just keep him out indefinitely .... We don't need to have a daily update(ala AI) on whether Eddie showed up to practice or not, and maybe the other guys will step it up
I have no problem with Eddie taking a week or so off to take care of whatever his personal problems are...the problem I have is with him doing so without telling anyone. This should be considered "strike 2". One more and he's gone. COMMUNICATION, Eddie! It's not just that college class you skipped every week...
I think a few people here jumped to conclusion a little too soon. Why not wait till Eddie explains what has happened to him? I guess most of us here have gone through difficult situations in our lives and at a certain point we refused to discuss about it. Right?
Not faulting JVG at all. I made no judgment here, just throwing out some plausible scenarios. The team needed discipline, and JVG can serve that up. Some folks can't handle it, but that's fine, JVG can deal with headcases as he chooses. I'm shocked about what has happened today. Senseless waste.
EG gets played to by the Rockets. He is an investment. If a player is in need of counseling, whether it be due to drugs or mental issues, then the team should offer some type of support role. And apparently, with the exception of the game or so he missed last year due to personal reasons, the problem hasn't been a huge one. Now it is. Now is the time for the team to step up and offer him some support for his problems. With regards to the rest of your post, revisionist history is fun isn't it?? Unfortunately, the Rockets didn't have the luxury of knowing what Eggie's future would hold.
