i couldnt agree anymore. EG is just so boring to watch. he has no passion for the game. everyone has their problems, but being a professional athlete with such things as depression or whatever the case may be, does not work out. It still puzzles me to this day what the scouts for the rockets were thinking
Hmm... I don't want to believe that he's still on drugs!! But...there's no other reason...unless he's been kidnapped or died.. I hope he's okay. I think he's been improving...
I didn't post anything a couple days ago, but at the time of JVG's famous quote, I was pondering why Cato would get singled out for praise among all players. Then I learned Cato was playing at the four instead of the five. So the first thing that came to mind was maybe EG had a run-in with JVG (pocket of resistance) and was severely chided. EG perhaps did not have the maturity to handle it well, and is in rebeliion. It all seems to fit, does it not?
Well...this could be why. Eddie seemed to be more energetic and like supportive or into it recently though.. This could be why though. Maybe he doesn't like JVG yelling at him and criticizing him? I don't know...MYSTERIOUS
Update: CD finally got in touch with EG and they will be meeting sometime today (tonight I guess) to discuss in personwhat happened. CD still does not know because he wanted it to wait until face to face.
MFW, First of all, you have no clue what type I am, so don't try and act like you know something about me (my arguement for Rudy was hardly based on sentinment, but instead, his qualifications as a coach). Second, as a human being, yes, I am concerned about Eggie the person. From a basketball/business standpoint, getting him help, if thats what he needs, has nothing to do with sentiment, it has do with protecting the team's investment in him. Again, you saying that you got over the death of your loved one means nothing. Everyone is different. I got over the death of my grandmother in about 6 mos. My wife grieved over the loss of her grandmother for about 3-4 years. Last, you apparently did not read what I posted earlier. I am not making excuses for Eggie. I flat out said that what is going on is inexusable. That being said, whatever has caused him to go AWOL and not return phone calls is cause for concern. Because of that, the team should do what it can for him instead of casting him aside. Like you said, if you want to win games, then you don't give up on someone with personal problems, especially if he can possibly develop into someone that can help you. The potential is still there for Eggie to turn this thing around.
Codell: I agree completely with your last post. Now, could somebody help a new guy and point me to where it says how to do this "quote" thing? I've read the faq's and tried to find help, but I don't see "quoting" as an option anywhere.
Because it is inexcusable, I don't see how the team can avoid docking his pay and suspending him. But if that's all they do, it's short-sighted and callous. As somebody else said earlier, if you're going to draft 19 & 20 year olds into this league, there is a moral responsibility as well as a responsibility to your own investment to provide some level of psychological and/or psychiatric guidance. Whatever the issue, the behavior is inexcusable, but the team needs to work personally with Eddie to try to help him change his behavior, and if appropriate, his emotional situation.
click on the icon above a post that looks like a piece of paper with an arrow coming out of it. that lets you quote someone else's post.
Gocart, if you look at the header in each post, you'll see the time posted. To the right of the time are 3 little icons - the third icon is a link to reply with a quote. It looks like a page with a red arrow next to it. There's also a button labeled "quote" that appears when you are entering a post. It's next to the "list" button on above your reply text.
Apparently, the edit doesn't work as well as the quote. (I've seen posts where people were talking about it being turned off a lot lately). Didn't mean to leave you out SamCassell, and I couldn't edit it to include you!
geez, you guys are going crazy on this ... its probably a girlfriend, family, or debt related situation... and obviously this is the wrong way to handle it, but he's a 20 year old kid, who's been into drugs, and has probably too much money, enabling him to get himself into all sorts of trouble. I'm dissappointed too, because I' was excited about the possiblity of getting RJ, Randolph, Tinsley and TMo at the time, and stated so on this board ... but, I must admit, I was ecstatic when we picked him. He gave us the possibility of another superstar in our rebuilding, which is always better than a few role players who might turn out big. The primary worry all along to other GMs who passed on him, was that he was a head case. And, that may be true. But, I believe he's worth developing. He is incredibly talented. Hopefully he turns it around soon. And, with these antics, he certainly isn't very tradeable. Maybe that's exactly why he'd doing this... knowing something behind the scenes.
lol...about Braggs. His arms are huge and he looks pretty big..looks like Amaech but shorter. He is quite a banger...made a lot of turnovers though. He did catch and make a shot from midrange though. He's all right. If I had to choose between him and Cornell, I would choose him because although Cornell can jump very high and hustles and has some game, Braggs is big and strong and can rebound. But hopefully Braggs isn't a troublemaker. I don't think either one will be signed! Maybe Eddie is mental...or he is addicted.
