The loss of Sura for 8 weeks won't effect the Rockets much. It's Yao and T-Mac that are going to carry this team. The other players are called role players for a reason, and we have enough depth to get by til Sura comes back.

But my concern is Sura is the role player least like a role player. He is very good some days, very bad others, and is rather unorthodox. Lue, Ward, JJ, MoT, Deke--those guys I think we have a pretty good handle on what they will/will not do, I think those players know that as well.

Sura and Boki were more of x-factors. Boki b/c he is so inexperienced, Sura b/c he is unorthodox and inconsistent. I just sure would have like to see Sura settle in a role from the outset--I am concerned when he comes back he will be pressing to prove his worth and for every thing he does good, he does something bad, and thus will be more difficult to integrate on a team that could be humming along.

    Hope I am wrong.

Oh my! Shame on me! What a brilliant idead! I rest my case!

    Not bloody likely!

Boki has failed to be a major contributor for the past two seasons. Expecting that to change overnight is folly. Are those minutes going to disappear? They are, if we have to give them to pretty boy Boki. JVG is not sold on him like you guys are. I wonder why his option hasn´t been picked up yet?

Sura going down may turn out to be a plus if we sign a veteran that know his role like Lucious Harris and strenghten our roster in the process.

Also, don´t forget that we have a short roster as it is.

Stop with the Boki nonsense! JJ can´t be expected to play 40+ minutes over the course of a season again!

Boki embarrassed Karl Malone and showed him that the mail is not supposed to be delivered on the weekends when you are in H-town.

He is a young role player that showed some impressive toughness & focus during two pressure filled home playoff games against the LA Fakers. Give me a break with your nonsense also.... The truth may be somewhere in the middle but get that weak stuff out of here like Boki would say to Karla Malone.

You really have to call Boki's play decent for the time he really got to play. He is not going to get any kind of rhythm with the playing time he got last year.

This year is a year that he is going to get to play and has to show us if he made of anything. For everyone that sits here and knocks on him, it's kind of not fair since he hasn't had any real playing time.

If he plays this year and stinks it up go ahead and flame him, but for someone who hasn't played hardly any minutes in his first two years i believe it's a bit premature.

Does this mean the Chinese media can report truth in advance of the US media?

I gave up playing basketball because I kept hurting my back when I was around 20. I think my disc was mildly herniated since back then and I kept herniating it. The body kept fixing it. This last time though, the internal matter ruptured through the disc and there was no "fixing it" without surgery. It's more common in people 35 and older. You can possibly walk around with a herniated disc without knowing it. It's when it rubs up against nerves that the pain starts. I've had 2nd degree burns, kidney stones, and a herniated disc that caused my leg intense pain and numbness. Out of those 3, if I had a choice of not experiencing any one of them again, it would probably be the herniated disc (at least the way I had it). It was mind-numbing painful - couldn't sleep at night - vicodin did nothing.

2 years ago, Boki nachbar drafted later discovered a groin injury upgraded to hernia.
Last year, free agent Pike signed and out because of a high ankle strain.
This year, free agent Sura signed only to develop a herniated disc.

Consipracy theory: New white players coming to the Rockets are mysteriously injured. Hmmm.

Just kidding. Padgett came over OK and A. Griffin came over with a knee injury, so that blows that theory. :D

I was only 18 when I was first diagnosed with 2 herniated discs. I actually went to physical therapy for a few months because I was always having pain in the hamstring area on my left leg. The whole time everyone thought I just had a muscle injury, until eventually my therapist suggest I go have an MRI on my back. I got epidurals on and off for a couple years, but never got the surgery because the pain just about vanished. It has started bothering me again though the last few months, so I'm worried it's going to get bad again.

The crazy thing is that I still don't know what caused the injury. I can't think of a specific moment when I strained or landed hard on my back. I just woke up one day with shooting pains down my leg.
