I agree with Clutch. The excuses need to stop and Lopez is hardly a source you should trust about basketball considering he thinks Rafer is some kind of missing link to a championship team.

Rocket doesn't need a pure PG. It is JVG's rigit offense strategy make it look like an uncureable flaw. In his system, only two players dribble while the remain three players just wait.

From 94 to 97, Bulls start Harper as PG. Harper in fact is more of a stopper than an orgnizer. If Rocket cann't find a decent start pure PG, it should think about change the role of PG.

I have an 11-year old son who this season became a HUGE NBA fan, and was as disappointed as I was at how badly the Rockets choked against the Jazz.

I mention this because without much prompting from me, my son (jack) came to his own conclusion that without another Pt Guard, the ROX aren't going anywhere in the Western Conf.

Since the season ended, he's been on a mission to identify a PG and/or PF we could acquire via free agency or trade. And since he's only 11 he's come up with almost as many silly proposals for the Rox as those of us on this board do...

However, he also settled on the choices of bringing back Steve Francis and/or trying to trade or acquire someone like Anderson Varejao. Although I'm not aware of Varejao's contract status, I think, for an 11-year old, my son show's at least as much maturity as most of us do on this board.

For those who still insist on defending Rafer... please, buy a vowel and stop the madness. Rafer is a backup playing WAAAAAYYY too many minutes as a starter on a team that should be playing in the WCF instead of Utah!!!

If Rafer was even half the PG that Lopez thought he was, we would be watching game 3 of the ROX/SPURS series instead of cheering for the JAZZ so we don't feel as much like losers. If, by many strokes of luck the Jazz win the WCF and then beat Detroit (do you really think the Cavs will pull it out?) then the ROX can say, well, at least we lost to a Championship contender, but I suspect the Spurs will win in 5 and then beat Detroit!!

In my basketball prayers, I pray all the time for a new and improved PG.... and since my prayers about JVG were finally answered, I have now turned my attention to begging god for someone who's capable of hitting a 15ft mid-range jumper, 6 assts/2-3 TO per game and unafraid of driving the damn ball ALL THE WAY TO THE HOLE!!!
