When I interned for Ch.13 back in 1994, I worked the morning & afternoon shifts. One day I was doing topicals (little 15sec promos) with Marvin & Shara Fryer..and Marvin Told me that If I wanted to be in This Business, that I wanted to be on THIS side of the camera (meaning in front of the camera) not that side (behind the camera). Shara Fryer looked at him & said
"Don't tell him that..that's Bullsh*t, You do whatever you want to do" I was completely in shock to hear Shara Fryer say "bullsh*t.

This makes me sad... he has been a part of my tv viewing history as long as I can remember.

When I was young and my mom worked night shifts at Methodist. She would leave for work exactly at 10:15pm. Right when Marvin would come on.

Then She would get to work and call to say she got there right as Johnny Carson finished up his opening act at 10:40.

    ...memories

BTW, has anybody ever actually seen slime in an ice machine? I think it's this mythical substance that Marvin made up to close down restaurants that he doesn't like...

I think his camera crew were at the Pasadena post office earlier today. I stopped by to mail a letter, and I saw a news crew interviewing people as they came in and out. I asked the post office clerk about it when I paid for my mailing, and she immediately ran to a phone and paged the supervisor up to the front. As I was leaving, I saw the supervisor go out and ask the camera crew what they were doing. As I walked by, I heard the camera guy ask, "Ever heard of Marvin Zindler?" But that was all I got. I wonder what it was about.

I remember the first time my wife saw Marvin Zindler. From the expression on her face, I think it was then she realized she made a big mistake moving to Houston.

Funny, because I once knew a schizophrenic man that lived in the house behind me (at my old place) and he would tell me that when he watched tv Shara Fryer would literally tell him to **** off. He was dead serious about it, and quite upset.

Thanks a lot for ruining my image of Shara Fryer!!! :(
First, good ol' Ed Brandon's a dopefiend, then they take away Frank "Coolest Weatherguy Ever" Billingsley, and now this... my childhood memories are being destroyed!

Man, Channel 13's old school - the best in local news. Y'all can keep the hoochies they parade out there now - gimme Shara, Ed, Dave, Marvin, etc. - they're family!

Who is gonna report about the roaches running around the taqueria, the improper food temperatures at the Long John Silver, and slime in the ice machine at the YMCA once he's gone?

I heard a story that in his personal bathroom then installed a new toilet. Well MZ went nuts and was screaming and yelling about the new toilet because when he sat down on it, his balls hung into the water.
This is a true story from an employee...it was in the late 90's.
    Nasty old balls!!!!
