The Chron headline was "Guard position a point of interest".

It's one thing to disagree with the coach based on what you see in games, but Batman Jones' point is: We don't know *anything* about Francis. Only what we read. What kind of opinion can you have based on nothing? That's not opinion; that's pure speculation.

    Same applies to Dorsey.

If you want to argue with the coach based on no information of your own vs the coach seeing them every day, then be ready for people to say you don't know what you are talking about vs the coach, because you don't.

Forever huh? So I guess you see Francis out there on the practice court everyday to know that he's ready to go in a game? Even more than Adelman sees him? That would be the only explanation as to why you would quit on the guy who has forgotten more about basketball than you will ever know.

Thanks for the highlights and I would love to Francis out there flying around the court, going for steals, blocks and even throwing himself down on the floor. If Francis can still do that we should definately have him out there but I don't know if he can and I suspect that is what Adelman thinks also.

someone explain why Landry didn't get to play until Jan. last season? Was he just not ready to play NBA basketball? Adelman is hard headed with the people he think should play....Adelman gets all the credit for Landry not to mention the 2 months before then he rode the pine! Until steve gets a chance nobody knows he is done.

Some really bizarre logic in this thread.

I really don't understand this longing for Steve Francis. As if some grand conspiracy is the only thing keeping him from playing this year. I said at the beginning of the year that he has played his last game with the Rockets or any other team. It's looking more and more like that is the case, so you SF fans need to come to grips with that.

I don't hate Francis, but I just don't understand why so many people here worship him. Is it because some of the younger fans consider those Francis teams "the good ol' days" because they're too young to remember the REAL "good ol' days" of Hakeem and Clyde? Are those Francis years the first memories you have of being Rocket fans? Honest question.

I'm trying to imagine how I would react if Hakeem was trying to make a comeback and sitting on the end of the bench. Would I act like some of these SF fans are acting now? Perhaps. But that's the only way I can understand this strange obsession with seeing SF play this year. I just don't get it.

I have a feeling that Morey has been trying to do just that since last December.

Couldn't the same logic be applied to the same people that say Francis is done? Last time I checked, those fans weren't coaches. So they don't know what they are talking about either. But it seems to be ok to have an opinion that he is done. The people that have seen him everyday, certain players like Artest, have said that he still has game left.

It is really that preposterous to suggest Francis get some game time with Skip out? We have three guys on the team that have played the PG position before. One of them are out. When the starter goes out, backups move up. Francis is cleared to practice. If you can practice, you can play. The only way to get into basketball game shape is to play in basketball games. Considering all that, why are we r****ds for simply suggesting Steve get some time back there? Hey if we are winning that's fine, but if it isn't looking too good, giving Steve a try will not kill our season.

Can Someone PLEASE Answer the Following Questions for Me?

What exactly is wrong with SF3?

    1. Is he too fat now?
    2. Is he too old now?
    3. Has he lost his skill?
    4. Is he simply out of shape?

Why, oh why, short of being on the DL for as long as he has been, is he in the permanent doghouse with JV... errr i mean, RA?

    Simply put...

    Is SF3 permanently impaired?

I don't think you can just trade Francis. The guy took less money to be here. He chose Houston over teams that had legit playing time available. That kind of trade is bad PR, makes management look bad. And to do it to the guy twice...

Well Morey said "The only way Steve plays is if there is an injury to Brooks or Alston blah blah blah". Well Alston is hurt we are down to one PG. Hmmm will Francis actually play now?

Alston status is day to day. We have a game today and 2 days off. I think he misses this game and will be back for the next game. My best bet is Alston misses 2 games at most. If we don't see Francis by that time then its over. I can see them trading him to another team then while on another team Francis kills and makes us look like fools. It always happens. Traded Mike James..he killed.. Traded Francis that year.. He killed ( even though we weren't bad ). Trade Boki he put up decent numbers.. If we trade Steve this year history will repeat and he will be angry and show the rockets front office they made a mistake and he is going to kill.

“I don’t know,” Adelman said when asked about the point guard rotation. “I really don’t know. It depends on how the game is going. You could see Luther (Head) there, you could see Von (Wafer). I don’t know if Von can play (the point), but you could see him there. You could see Tracy (McGrady) handling the ball.

THIS IS WHAT THE MULTI TALENTED COACH OF THE HOUSTON ROCKETS RICK ADELMAN HAVE IN HIS GAME PLAN     :(

    I say give SF3 a chance.

Start him at HOME. At a minimum, you KNOW he's going to inspire the crowd and with it, inspire the team. C'mon, he's THE FRANCHISE!!!!!

I really don't understand the fascination with Francis anymore. I'm one of those guys who grew up when he was the star of the team, but I know he's not that guy anymore and it's something we have to accept and move on. RA obviously thinks he has got nothing left, that Francis isn't showing him anything in practice, or maybe he just isn't healthy yet.

    1. No.. he lost a lot of weight and that showed that he was ready and committed which i loved.

    2. Hahah far from it. he is 30-31 i doubt that he is

    3. No way. Just last year he was balling. Put back dunks that didnt count. game winning shots and all that being hurt. Just imagine him now :D

    4. Probably. He just needs to get his wind back. Like JVG said theres no better way to get in NBA shape than to actually play in a game.. Practice is practice no one really goes all out in practice. The game is what really counts.

First, players propping up a teammate is not a good indication of how that player is doing. Second, we do have information about his inability to play, from both the coach and the GM.

Besides, Francis didn't do every well last season. He played in 10 games, a total of 200 minutes. His fg% was 33%, 24% from 3pt range, 56% from the line. Assuming that he is not ready to contribute after such performance and after an extensive time off is more than reasonable in my book. Expecting otherwise is just emotional wishful thinking.
