“I want to get to that point,” Francis said. “It’s hard for me to say when I’ll get in or anything like that. The toughest thing is when the fans do that chanting. If they do that chanting … again I’m going to cry.”

duh, SF3 is still at the side lines. The only reason his on the bench is because rox need bodies at the bench.

And enough with that "I'm going to cry". It meant he is so touch by all the rox fans that still remember him and still supported him after all this time. Not that he is sad about the fact that rox fans wants him to play.....

If a team picks him up in a trade it is for his expiring contract, NOT for his ability to play.

Steve is done, Steve was done when we picked him up. He had one good game last year and then was injured the rest of the year. We need to evaluate players on current ability, not on nostalgia.

If SF3 is in uniform I am sure the fans will be chanting his name but he has not been in uniform for the past 2 games. I will be watching and hearing what happens tonight.

Always love it when people who are just fans always think they know so much more than the coaches who see these players everyday.

If SF3 was ready and would improve our chances of winning, RA would put him out there. Both of the aforementioned factors aren't the case and that's why we haven't seen SF3 on the floor.

Listen I am a big Steve Francis Fan, but you can tell that their is some undercover feelings in regards to Francis vs. his team-mates. The only people who have said anything positive about Steve all year is Coach turner Gm Daryl Morey, Rafer Alston, and Artest. We can't see the practices so we don't know how he is doing. One mistake that Steve could be making is this business about trying to fit in by being passive. He has to be what he is and thats and incredible instinctive player. RA coached STEVE when he was an ALL-Star so he knows what type of player he is supposed to be. Steve failed in New York because he wanted to be the man but did not want to be disruptive to the team which makes him play passively for fear of stepping on toes. If he doesn't change his ways and go back to the old Steve-Cocky,chip on his shoulder, playing with reckless abandon then management will have to involve him in a trade. I mean what else can be done if he doesn't play his game?

I don't find it that surprising. It was an older and largely untalented squad.

    • Yao Ming - still in league

Steve Francis - still in league, injured

Cuttino Mobley - 33 years old now, retired due to heart issue

Jim Jackson - 37 years old now

Maurice Taylor - was an undisciplined fatty while here and only got worse

Kelvin Cato - 34 years old now, barely starting caliber in his prime

Clarence Weatherspoon - 38 years old now, already washed up by the time he got here

Eric Piatkowski - 38 years old now, was washed up by the time he got here

Scott Padgett - barely a rotation player in his prime

Torraye Braggs - barely had a cup of coffee in the NBA

Bostjan Nachbar - foreign guy that took an offer from a foreign team...very normal these days

Moochie Norris - 35 years old now, and he's Moochie Norris

Mark Jackson - 43 years old now...

Mike Wilks - couldn't even crack the rotation on THIS team

Alton Ford - 10-day contract extraordinaire

Charles Oakley - 44 years old now...

Adrian Griffin - 34 years old now, was in and out of rotations his entire career

The only one that seems unexpected to me is Cuttino. He's no spring chicken, but he was still starting and producing for the Clippers just a couple of weeks ago.

This assumes that Adelman is completely infallible when it comes to evaluating talent. The DNPCDs Mutombo racked up last year before Yao went down and his subsequent service as the starter don't really validate that.

Actually, it has been well documented that they were taking it easy with Deke last year and were about to start playing him to get him acclimated for the stretch run. The Yao injury just exacerbated that point.

whose Denver's back-up pg? Chucky Atkins? Anthony Carter?

I say as long as he's healthy and available to play...give Steve a few minutes and see what he can do

Idleman felt sad that noone of the big three bought his system and he had to play what TMac, Yao, and to a lesser degree, Artest like. Basically the rockets are now insideout or let TMac create, the old Gundy ball.

But he can play the second team to his liking at least. That's why he does not like to give Steve a chance.

I do not have any problem if Steve will become a ball hog in the second team, especially in nights when no one can pick up their shooting touch. Steve can at least drive and initiate contact. Who else other than TMac can? AB and Rafer can drive some but can never initiate contact, Artest can draw faul but is horrible driving from the parameter.

Steve probably is not in shape but like another poster said, the best way to work someone into game shape is working him in the game. The guy had taken less money to play for the rockets but really was not treated fairly enough.

I do not understand why Idleman like Wafer so much. His shooting is streaky so far into the season. Without shooting he is not really superior than Mike Harris, Strawberry, or even Kirk Snyder. He is just someone you can replace so easily without any impact on the team. Steve Francis however was such a great player that you know can impact the game.

Sometimes I have to wonder after a full season and 1/4 into this one, what Idleman really is doing to help this team improve. I hate his whining about injuries. A couple of seasons back JVG always said that the team had enough to win which probably was not true. But with almost the same lineup, plus Scola, Carl, AB, Steve Francis, this team really now has enough to win.

Did anyone actually expect Francis to start?

I like Francis a lot and hope to see him in the T-Wolves game but nothing I've heard says he is ready to play signifigant minutes, forget about starting.

It is what bothers me the most. With weak characters in Yao Ming, TMac, the two supposedly leader of the team, the rockets really do not need a whining head coach. Grow a pair or at least pretend it!

That's an invalid argument. Gerald Wallace's last season on the Kings was 2003-2004 when Peja and Chris Webber were still here and we were dominant.
Kevin Martin averaged 26.6 MPG and 10.8 PPG during Rick's last season on the Kings. Thatwas also Bonzi's "breakout" season. He also started in 41 games that year. I wouldn't call that rotting on the bench.

Yesterday marked the one year anniversary of the last game Steve played. And he wasn't even playing well. There's no reason to believe he'd be able to jump in and play at any kind of high level right now.
