    Quick Rant

poor AB was such a scape goat last season. think of the giant leap he took from his rookie season (when he never payed) to his second season (when he was made a starter). that's a testament to his work ethic and ability to learn. people were upset with this promotion because his game had major holes, but few gave praise for his improvement. as long as he's still working hard, and still trying to learn what the coaches want, there is no reason to think he won't take another major step forward this season.

we know he can drive past anyone. we know he can shoot from anywhere. two things are missing from his game. 1) decision making, 2) on ball defense. from what we've been hearing, the coaches and aaron are focused on his decision making. when he gets by his defender, will he know when to shoot and when to pass? when the defense rotates to cover him, will he be able to find the open man?

aaron seems like a smart kid and a hard worker. under rick adelman, i'm confident that he can learn / improve this specific skill set.

A fine synopsis. Aaron Brooks is appreciated on these forums, although you tend to find the criticisms much more often.

In all fairness to this forum which I love so much, there is usually more criticism over praise posted for every player, coach, and situation. I know it's not just Aaron.

However, after Rafer was traded Aaron became the focal point of any Rockets discussion, leading to a lot more undeserved criticism. Remember how polarized the GARM was by the time the playoffs came around? It was like Brad Pitt left Kyle Lowry to be with Aaron Brooks and the nation was split into wearing "Team Aniston" or "Team Jolie" T-shirts. Or something like that :p

AB reminds me of a younger Bobby Jackson.

Please don't let this kid lead us...

I see you were so pleased when Rafer Alston was leading us to all those championships

He's led the Pac 10 in scoring, was groomed with USA Select, and played huge in the playoffs......I reallly believe it's just a question if he does it uptop or as a 1/2. It will be interesting to see how the Rockets handle Brooks.

The guy's had mad talent at every level.

i think that AB will be as good as he want to let himself be. He has all the potential to be like a CP3 of deron williams, but faster and a better long range shooter. This is the year we see AB and Scola become allstars...bet..

Oh man that vid still gives me goosebumps

I screamed in delight on draft night when David Stern announced Aaron Brooks' name.

He was hit or miss in a lot of games this past season. Hopefully he will become more consistent.

We'll need him to be a big playmaker esp if Mcgrady misses the first part of the season.

For the sake of the Rockets I really hope Brooks rounds out his game. Through the years it has been shown that passing and setting up team mates by the PG is really based on instinctive skill set. In most cases it is either he has it or he doesn't. I believe Brooks does not have it in his instincts but I really hope I am wrong.
