I got the Battier trade wrong. I thought it was a mistake. I was wrong. It was a great move.

But these guys aren't perfect. Of course I think he wants to win. That doesn't mean they make the right call everytime. It doesn't mean they're not restrained or distracted by other externalities.

You don't know more than Charlie Casserly, for example...but you would have been right to assume he was making tragically foolish decisions. Decisions that seriously set this franchise back. It's ok to say you disagree with that, Meowgi. I personally give you permission to disagree...to have your own opinion, even if you think it's limited.

    Good post.
I hate to say it but its like the Aggie of NFL mentality sometimes. Theres nothing wrong for being critical of something you don't agree with.

Its like saying every movie is good. No, some movies suck and don't go to

So it's your position that you never have any opinions about any trades, roster moves, or free agent signings in professional sports?

You can be right or wrong in retrospect. And if Batt got hurt early this season people would still be complaining. When The Texans first started up everyone was saying how great the organization was and how they are making all the right moves blah blah blah. Everything is all hype. I just always have a wait and see attitude. I might get excited about signing a player etc. but I know it doesn't guarantee success. The truth is nobody every knows how things are going to really play out, ever. So I'm not going to waste my time b****ing about the teams and freaking out about draft picks etc. They are going to do what they are going to do. I can they that they currently suck but I have no control of how to change that beyond saying that the team sucks and not buying tickets etc. I can not influence HOW they try to improve, only that they do. I understand that my role is limited.

Pablo Picasso said "It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child"

I kind of feel the same way about being a sports fan.

it's ok to have an opinion. i'm not calling Mr. McNair to tell him i'm unhappy with decisions they've made. i'm not stalking Kubiak to ask him what in the world he was thinking with David Carr. but i do disagree with some of their decisions.

Trying to run a player out of town is not an opinion. Kubiak was thinking he could work with Carr and see what he had. That's because he is a pro football coach and not a crazed fan.

Who's trying to run him out of town? I've expressed my opinion--and it's a valid one--that the Texans should cut David Carr. Now, I agree with you they should only do so if there is a real upgrade. I guess I presupposed that, but I should have stipulated it anyway.

Saying that is a far cry from "running a player out of town." I seriously don't understand all the b****ing about the criticism of Carr in this particular thread. The thread is about Carr, it references an article about Carr. Do you believe he merits no criticism?

Now, if the Texans retain his services and he wins the job, I will pull for him as hard as ever, despite my current opinion that they should cut or trade him and sign Plummer or someone else.

You can call that "running him out of town" if you like, but you'd be "making **** up," to borrow someone else's phrase.

There have been petitions and rallies to get rid of Carr. It is pretty stupid.

Ok...I'm not trying to run anyone out of town. I would like to see my football team improve their QB spot, though.

Yet you're arguing with people who didn't post those petitions and you're arguing about things that were posted months ago.

Just because you trust his opinion more than the opinion(s) of a bunch of internet posters doesn't mean you think he's "the czar".

And especially given that their knowledge of football eclipses mine or anyone else's here 4200 times over and he was able to coach our team to 6 wins despite how horrible our QB played for most of the season, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt at this time.
