C'mon guys. I'm desperate for some feedback. I'm rookie and can't start my own thread. News on the cables is that Phoenix is on the fence about trading Nash. There have been talks of rebuilding the last few weeks. That being said... Thoughts on the following gamble: Trade Brooks, Ming, Jeffries, Ish, throw in a pick to cancel out the curse of Jeffries Receive Steve Nash, maybe even Lopez? Steve Nash has at least 3 years left in the tank, have him groom Lowry on shooting. Lowry has already been improving on his 3s - having Steve Nash teach him a few more things wouldn't hurt. If Yao wants to sign and return with the Rockets next season, great for merchandise sales, and if he is healthy even better for the team. Target C prospects in draft and hopefully management picks wisely - which I'm sure he will. In the upcoming years (hopefully sooner rather than later) target Ricky Rubio. Which the Rockets have before. Maybe give up the rights to Sergio Lull and/or send over a well put-together package of the Rockets assets at the time. The more and more I see how Morey is building this team, the more it seems he really is pushing the idea of an 11-12 man rotation like in the Euro leagues.
It's just that no one wants to respond to the annoying rookie. Y'all are mean. I thought we all had something in common, love for the rockets and our fellow fans. I'm a die hard fan. You sir are a bully.
Morey is interested in winning a championship, not building some 11-12 man roster that proves they can make the playoffs.
Yes, I am, now watch yourself ... Just follow the rules, and stop posting the same thing in multiple threads..... It is not about being a rookie, your post was good enough, someone will respond to it, if it inspires them. Or pisses them off, that is how the interwebs work....well, from my bully pulpit anyway. DD
Watching Nene muscle our guys last night put him on my wish list, hopefully if we are involved in the 4 team deal we can grab him.
I can't fathom anyone offering Yao more than the MLE, after his latest season-ending injury, and the admission by his doctor that he is susceptible to future foot injuries. And even at that salary, expect for it to be an incentive-laden deal. Also, it's a safe bet that the MLE will survive in the next CBA, maybe just reduced by the max number of years that can be offered from 5 to 3. Yao plus $3 million for Dalembert gets the Rockets under the luxury tax threshold, and saves the Kings some money when factoring in the insurance payment, so I don't think it is outside of the realm of possibility come trade deadline time if nothing else falls into place.
Nene would be beyond ideal for this team...guy is a true center, still young and affordable. You could move some pieces for him and feel good about going long term with the guy. It will all be about Melo and whenever he gets moved.
I wonder if we'd move Scola if we got Nene to try and get a more versatile pf. I love Scola but if we had Lowry Martin, Iggy Wallace Prince ect ect ect, Hays, Nene as our 1st team with, Brooks Lee Twill Pat Hill as the second. I think that first team would be sick at D and still good at O. with the second team having crazy energy and still be effective at D.
Honestly, if Denver moves Nene then they are rebuilding and will want to go young. They have talked about staying competitive but with Billups getting up there in age and Martin/Smith becoming FAgents, I don't see how they don't rebuild. Truly depends on when and how they move Melo but if they rebuild and choose to move Nene then the Rox have the assets to make it happen. Nene for Hill, Jeffries and 2012 #1 pick(should be pretty low) Lowry/AB Martin/CLee Battier/Bud Scola/Patterson Nene/Miller Would make our defense infinitely better and should only be the first of a few moves to get better defensively.
It's clear the pressure is on Morey to swing in a big way. Battier (or Chase), Jeffries, and Brooks almost have to go.
I'm worried that dealing Battier will hurt us more than help us. For all the talk of his decline, he's putting up near career high numbers in blocks this year and leading the team in it. In fact, the Rockets are currently in the top 10 for blocked shots, despite not having any legitimate shot blocking presence for most of the season. We still need Shane, IMO.
Right on and the only way is like Garnett/Allen to Boston type deals. If this is true, just who is looking to be out of town? Hmm. Scratch Carmelo it ain't happening. Paul will land where ever Anthony is at. Remember KG wanted out of T'Wolves country and i did not think much of the rumors of him going to Boston 2 seasons before it happened. There is just no players in KG calibur available and Morey with a grain of salt will have to accept that notion. Also, if he's going to build a team like the 04 Pistons, i wish him the best of luck there sir.
True and there is just no teams that are that high on these type of players you suggested. With the exception of Sacramento and Brooks forget cousins he's untouchable.
I absolutely knew...and would have bet substantial money...this would happen. The Rockets have a lite December schedule and beat the sub .500 teams. Then they move on to playoff caliber teams in January and lose. And the absence of Chuck Freakin' Hayes is the reason. Let me drop a clue here. The January results would be the same with or without Hayes. The combined point totals would be lower. The results would be nearly identical.
