I'll tell you one thing, if Rick Adelman doesn't get it together we are not going anywhere. The fact that Rick refuses to play Terrence Williams after playing so well in his sting at the end of the Portland game is troublesome. He has to much loyalty to Shane, and when Shane is sucking it up he needs to sit. He offers nothing on offense, does not move off the ball, and has played ZERO defense this season. He simply can't guard anymore on a consistent basis. And its not even his one-on-one defense, its his team defense as well. On several PnR situations with Carmelo he trapped the guard and left Melo wide open. that is terrible defensive execution, and we won't even talk about his terrible offensive output.

Chase Budinger is playing well so he deserves to still get minutes, but with someone as talented as Terrence in many aspects of the game (especially as a facilitator), he needs to play. He needs to play NOW. Shane is not the future of this team and he does not need to steal minutes away from younger talent when he is being so damn ineffective.

I don't like that fragile back court. Maybe Lowry instead of Brooks? ;)

lost in all this talk about a defensive C, is our lack of playmaking in the 4th quarter. That will come up sooner or later. T-Will is there, but it is going to take some time for him to mature

I don't want to bring in Mcgrady into this convo, but he was a heck of playmaker when compared to what we have now. too bad he got injured and quit.

    I agree.

I think a Brooks/Scola deal to the Hawks makes a whole lot of sense for both teams, and I feel like Lowry has proven who the starter is.

Are you convinced that Josh Smith can play SF? I'm not so sure. I would view Josh Smith and Patterson as playing the same position.

They have tried it a few times this season against some of the bigger teams with Horford playing PF and Jason Collins at the C. It has worked pretty well for them. Except M.Williams doesnt like being benched.

Of course they face tough choices.Feigen is stating the obvious. What he is not talking about is that changes will have to be made.

Good question. I think he is a good enough passer to do it, and frankly, I think we need that if we want to have Kevin Martin on the floor for extended minutes.

"You are what you can guard."

I would LOVE to put Josh Smith on Lebron/Carmelo/Durant...

Like the other poster said, The Hawks have been trying to find a good enough C to do it for a long time. I think they might blow up that plan If they could get Brooks and Scola to go with Horford and Joe Johnson.

The Hawks have GOT to do something. They have been stuck with that roster for a long, long time.

I doubt if that will be enough to get Smith.

I didn´t know, he is shooting 40% from 3pt line this year, I guess he is getting better shooting like a SF, there is no doubt in my mind he can defend 3s in this league, I actually think Josh is one of those under the radar kind of players, because he has so many highlights, people tend to think he works hard to have them, I think they come naturally for him, that is what happens when you play D you get blocks (or steals because he is very active on D), and then go out and run on the fastbreak for those crazy ass dunks.

He plays 70 plus games per year, he can play the 3 and the 4, and he can play D and O, total package

But even tho that Scola plus AB package makes sense for the Atlanta Hawks, I doubt they trade him, but hey, you never know...

And about this Center problem we have, I think people tend overreact, I know it is hard as a fan, seeing our team win, we want changes imidietly, but those are the worst. Let´s imagine we DM panics, and goes hard after Gortat, we would have to give alot for him, because we "Only" want Gortat, plus PHO is still in the running for the playoffs, so there is no way we only get what we want, by a cheap price. I can almost assure you that DM is going hard in the paint, but there is no way the Clipps, Pho, Ind, Mem, etc, will give up the 7ft guys they have for cheap, and from my understanding, there is no way, DM would give our "real trade assets" for a project that, "can go wrong".

I know it is hard as a fan, but the quicker the worst, because the minute DM shows panic, GMs would start demanding BIG....

    Aaron Brooks
    Joe Johnson
    Shane Battier
    Luis Scola
    Al Horford

    Championship roster??? I think so.
The Hawks would absolutely jump on this imo...

    Kyle Lowry=24 Terrence Williams=23 Mike Bibby=Old
    Kevin Martin=27 Courtney Lee=25
    Josh Smith=24 Chase Budinger=22
    Patrick Patterson=21 Jordan Hill=23
    New Center Chuck Hayes=27
    -----

Built for the future. Grab a C with Yao+Whoever...

    Sorry guys, I'm done... :)

You don't think Scola/Brooks/Battier would be enough?

I tell you what, You put those three with Johnson and Horford and you have a scary, scary team for the next 5 or so years.

You know why they would probably decline that offer???

They know 2 of those 3 guys play NO D, they are trading the best defensive player they have for 2 sub par defenders plus a sub par offensive player, do you feel me...

They would have to change so much.... there is definitely a argument against that trade proposal...

Damn, I would have a hard time turning that down If I was the GM in Atlanta.

Horford and Battier are defensive monsters in the playoffs...

Brooks can light you up. Scola is Scola, And Joe is the 4th quarter.

The only way DM would do something like that is If he truly believed Patterson was the real deal.

When you have a true center on the court, most teams bigs will post in his direction allowing 4's and 3's the chance to snag easy rebounds. Without a true center the opposing teams center just clogs the paint for rebounds and blocks.

I think DM thinking that Paterson is the real deal is not the problem, I think both him and Rick think that Paterson and T.will are the future....

I think the fact that both of them even performing better then both Bud and Hill but still being behind them in the rotation, and the amount of time they took to even start playing, makes me thing that they want to take time with both of them to understand want coach really wants from them, and secondly, that still want Hill and Bud to play, so that they can be "real trade assets"....

The other part "can" be the problem...

Horford and Battier are NOT defensive monsters, they are good, not monsters

Ab can light it up, yes he can, but he can´t stop opposite PGs to light him up

    The same goes for Scola

And yes, Johnson is a good 4th quarter performer for them

I am not hating, my point is that that trade proposal is perfect (no one is), so if it materializes, there could be a negative response by the Hawks GM.
