I can't believe people took Barkley's comments about Ming that seriously and personally. Barkley was just having fun, even Yao realized that when they talked to him about it. Barkley even said he thought Yao would be good down the road, but not last year. He was obviously wrong since Yao was far ahead of the curve.

Charles had the guts to admit he was wrong, what more do some people need? He didn't think Yao would be able to adjust to NBA level low post basketball, a perfectly sound opinion with little to no evidence at the time. He stated this opinion in a very over the top way(because thats what he gets payed to do), was proven wrong, and did the right thing. Get off his back b****es!

Wonder if Barkley is referring to weed or something more serious...

I think he refering to the fact that Eddie hangs with a crowd that is part of the drug culture which will always drag him down whether he is using or not. I think he is using though, it explains his actions and situation all to well.

The reason why he had to admit it is because he wanted to run for Governor for his home state of Alabama....

If he didn't kiss ass, then his political rivals will dig this incident up and shove it back into Sir Charles' ass...

why do we automatically assume lebron 'will find his jumpshot'? or he will 'develop a jumpshot' in 2-3 years time....?

just assuming that any young guy coming in will develop a jumpshot is uncertain at best...

Because guys at his age that are now Top 5 in the game didn't have a jumper to save their life. Anyone remember Kobe in his rookie year when he jacked up air ball after air ball?

I think you have forgotten how T-Mac and Kobe played when they came out. LeBron is ahead of the curve.

if lebron was smart, he wouldve got at least one or two years experience in college. The only reason he looked good before the NBA was cause he was still playing HIGH SCHOOL teams....you have to be damn good in high school to even make in college ball and become known in the NCAA. He didnt have the challenges in high school and if he had played in college, he wouldve competed against many players of his caliber and even better (carmelo :p ) which wouldve made him a better player and also show his true talent. i definetly dont see him winning ROY this year, but im not denying that he will become a great player. its just going to take him a while.
i just hate hearing about him all the time and pratically every freakin national televised game is because lebron will be playing

go to college lebron, you dont belong in the NBA....yet

GMs and others actually thought he was better than most college players. If you look at the top set of picks this year, how many can you really justify taking ahead of LeBron?

Remember, LeBron didn't "only" play against high school guys; he, like other well-known high schoolers and college guys, played at sports camps. I think LeBron wowed a lot of people at Jordan's camp, and supposedly whooped up on Jerry Stackhouse, too.

Mind you, I'm not actually a LeBron fan -- just that what you're saying is a rather simplistic mindset.

Also, keep in mind that getting paid a bunch of money was also a factor. No one would pass up that much cash.

i might have a simpler mindset, but just because he beat jerry stackhouse and impressed some people at camps still doesnt mean he belongs in the NBA.

    and about picking over lebron.....
definetly carmelo. i mean come on, the guy is already prooving himself as a solid player on the nuggets, plus denver is really building a strong offense around him. hes already a leader

Lebron did the smart thing. Take $100 million dollar contract with Nike, get a rookie paying wage in the NBA, or go to college to improve your game. Financially be set for life, or go to college to learn how to shoot a jumpshot. Hmm I wonder what's more important.

I know, I meant to ask is Lebron not proving himself. I think he is, with the exception of shooting.

    Sorry for the confusion.

Where'd all these people come from?

Charles didn't hate or dislike Yao, he just thought Yao would struggle more last year than he actually did.

Lebron will not be a top 5 player in 2-3 years as long as Duncan, Garnett, Shaq, Kobe, and TMac are in the L.

Wade is overrated. To think he'll contend for ROY is pretty funny.

Carmelo is a significantly better player at this time. Lebron has alot of potential, but I don't know how long it'll take for him to get up to where he can be. He is ahead of Kobe and TMac at this time, but he also has alot more pressure on him and is not in a situation to showcase his talent as much as Carmelo is. Also Lebron can shoot, he just needs some help with consistency. He fades away and alters his release points too much.
