You've got it correct. We're all born with the same bones and muscles, yet everyone's body is different. Why? Because during our lives we experience different traumas, situations, etc and our muscles adapt and take on certain muscle memories. Now it's easy to massage and trigger the muscles through electro stim, but what happens when you go back to living the way you were? The muscles go back to what they were doing in the first place. This is why I predict Tmac's problems to persist unless he incorporates the right excercises to have the body naturally trigger and start using the muscles correctly. I'll give everyone an example regarding Tmac's condition. The arches in our feet are capable of carrying and supporting a large amount of force and weight, which is why our feet are designed that way. Now if the arches are collapsed (flat feet) then certain muscles are not being engaged. The weight we're supporting is still the same, and if certain muscles are not being used, then others are having to compensate for them and being used TOO much. Now remember the muscles in the body all have their counterparts, ie the biceps and triceps act in counter directions, and they're not isolated pairs so it's sort of like a chain. So if muscle group A is not being used, muscle group B is used too much, then it also will affect muscle group C, and so on and so on. Little by little, the rest of your body will be affected..many times it's manageable and we can live with these imbalances but it looks to me that Tmac's posture has gotten so bad that it's basically come to what it is now. I speak from personal experience here. I've had flat feet, scoliosis, back problems, etc you name it. I've tried regualar medicine, chiros, and many other modes of treatment and the only one that consistantly keeps me pain free is the one that teaches my body correct posture. Chiros are great for instant realignment, but what happens when you leave the chiro office and your muscles go back to how they were being used...they pull everything back out of place, hence the reintroduction of pain and re-visiting the chiro to get the same part of your back adjusted again..over and over.
I am hoping for the best for tmac and its really good to hear this news but the word that jumps out at me in pattersons sentence is "should"
PAGING SCYMAN Thanks for the link to the website. I don't have time to go into detail about my health issues, but you couldn't be more correct about the significance of correct posture in injury prevention. Could you please tell me which product you recommend from that website and how frequently you work on maintaining correct posture? I would like to incorporate that in my life. Go Tmac Go Rockets
How come it's taken so long for T-Mac to find this guy? I mean he's worked with high profile athletes before.
Macfan, There really isn't a product, it's a process. You have to find a MBF practitioner and he/she will evaluate you and see what's going on with your body/posture. They will then work with you in private sessions to develop and teach you a menu of exercises and poses that will train your body and muscles to use correct posture. What area are you in? Please email me at scyang1@gmail.com and I can help point in the right direction in finding a practitioner, as this is probably not the best place to discuss it.... BTW anyone close enough to Tmac that can possibly relay this info? It's really been life changing for me and countless others and I really do believe it can help him, and thus help our Rockets!!!
Maybe the Rockets' insurance plan doesn't allow for an "out of network" specialist, so T-Mac had to see his Primary Care Physician to pay the normal $15 co-pay.
that article had so much typos. but i sure hope mcgrady feels better. he did start attacking the basket much more the last 2 games
here's a quote in that website from one of the patients. sounds similar to tmac's problems " For five years I struggled. My back was "going out" more often and each episode was worse. In between attacks the nagging pain was building. Finally a chiropractor refered me to Geoff Gluckman. Geoff put me on a step by step program that has changed my life.ÊI can ski again, I can run again and I feel ten years younger. This works..."
The guy is a therapist in Waco. And he hasn't worked with alot of high profile athletes. Plus everybody claims to have the next cure for everything but if you talk to most traditional doctors they will say stay away from thse quacks. But that is mostly cause they don't understand and reject what they don't understand. So it easy to overlook alternative treatments when most authorities are saying no. But I can assure you most traditional MD's don't have a clue about the spine. My wife is a holistic chiropractor who uses AK (Applied Kinesiology an advanced form of accupressure) along with nutrition electronic stimulation and spinal manipulation to heal her patients. I've seen her countless times work miracles on patients who have spent months and even years with traditional treatments with little or no results. My wife gets results and it doesn't matter how skeptical the patient. I too don't believe Tmac is 100% and needs more treatment but after taking a hard hit from Jefferson and feeling fine and spending almost a year without feeling right I think it is safe to feel optimistic.
I am not saying that posture isn't a contributing factor. The fact is many things contribute to a good back as well as a bad one. But Tmac has probably had the same posture most of his life and the one thing he did do before he had this problem last season was heavy lifting. He said that he had lifted harder and more than ever before. And the results were back spasms. Again spasms are just the symptom of the problem triggered by the body to protect from more injury. I believe he suffered an irritated nerve in all likelihood and probably from the trauma of lifting that got aggravated early last season and it has never been treated even closely to the right way until Friday. Which means he could be on the right track to recovery. Still good posture is important. Just as nutrition and seeing a good chiropractor should be as well
Why hasn't this frequency specific microcurrent machine won a couple of Nobel Prize already? Shame on the Swedish Royal Academy
He saw this specialist on Friday? Is that also the day he started his string of 4 consecutive workout days?
So they finally decided to use alternative medicine.
