Ausmus should handle our staff in some capacity until he becomes our manager. ...and it's really nice to see Lane go.
I assume he is referring to former Astros who were on the winning World Series teams the past few years.
We could coin a new term. If you're hitting worse than the Mendoza line, you're hitting down in the Lane.
Ensberg is gone! Lane is gone! Biggio doesn't lead off anymore! The astros actually have good prospects! Purpura and Garner are gone! This season is starting to shape up. Anyone else notice how much more runs we are averaging with anderson and towles in the lineup? Lidge is next on Wade's trade radar. Man if lidge could bag us a top fielding prospect, that would be good enough. An Andy Laroche, Eric Aybar or Alberto Callaspo would be good. We need to desperately shore up that infield.
Infield defense? Do you mean infield defense that can hit? Because if you're looking solely at infield defense, arguably the best defensive SS in the National League already plays for the Astros. (He just can't hit.)
I guess he is trying to say that Lane belongs in this category of players? Either way, it's pretty hilarious.
No he is saying that former Astro Curt Schilling was on the WS winner 3 years ago, Garcia and Blum 2 years ago and Wilson last year... The ? at the end of his Ensberg/Lane statement indicates that perhaps they will be on the WS winner this year, although lan cannot participate in the WS.
Ensberg on Lane "He's a guy who has been a foundation of winning teams. He's won everywhere he's gone. I think it's important to bring guys together who know how to win," Ensberg said. "He's got a lot of ability and a lot of talent, and if he gets the opportunity to play every day, he can put up some scary numbers." I agree!
he struck out swinging on 3 pitches last night in his only at bat. I'm so happy the Padres took him off our hands!
