Astros sign personal services deal with Biggio

The Astros agreed today to a three-year personal services agreement with long-time second baseman Craig Biggio, who retired following last season.

Biggio played 20 seasons for the Astros and holds the franchise records for runs (1,844), doubles (668) and hits (3,060).

"I've already moved on to the next chapter of my life,'' Biggio told the Associated Press on Monday. "I'm excited to see how the other aspects of the game work.''

Another former Astros player who has a personal services contract includes Jeff Bagwell.

Nolan Ryan was let out of his agreement with the Astros last week to became president of the Texas Rangers, and Roger Clemens will have a 10-year personal services contract once his retirement is official.

Excellent news. It's good to know that he'll be around to teach the kids how to play the game the right way, as he'd say.
