"To be honest, I'm thinking about this right now," Yao said. "Being in the new system, I think I don't want to take away my advantage on the low post. That's still my game. By the way, that statements says it all.
Amare or Harrington (he quarded Yao lasy year) just have to front him. They have no chance 1on1 with Yao. Golden State used Harrington as a 5 so it was easy Nelson would front Yao. With Suns he was always double-teamed as I remember. Every time he caught the ball there were 2 players around him
This high post low post debate about Yao will never end. I don't think you should predetermine how much you want him to be there. Not even the most inflexible coaches. . . ahem. . . would say, "Okay, Yao's been at the low post 2 times. It's time to run the high post." You play according to the matchup and how the defense reacts. Adelman is probably just throw out an estimation. The only thing you can say about that comment is that he believes Yao should be in the low post the MAJORITY of the times.
since i can't make threads... http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/7375914 sorry if its been posted already
Wow, this is the first article i've seen Yao ranked #1 in center ranking. Everyone else ranks Amare as #1. Finally some love from the media.
Yao in the low post 85% does it for me. Nobody could guard him down low. I would love to see some quick hitters to Yao and a quick strike from him early in the shot clock. Yao could operate in the high post when we have Bonzi in the game. Bonzi will have space to work with. Adelman should know that Yao has a completely different skillset than Webber/Divac/Miller. While he can hit a 15-17 footer consistently I don't want him shooting that 80% of the time like Garnett and Webber.
w post or high post, one thing I found that was kind of disturbing in the last 2 games, our guys were not looking for Yao. Yao went long stretches just to run up and down the court. We got to fix that now! Yao is still our bread & butter.
