I love his attitude. If he continues to think like that and work hard to improve
he will be perfect for this team. I love what he brings on the defensive side of the ball. Seems like rebuild mode is in effect. We may have a tough year, but I agree watching a young team play hard and develop will be both hard and exciting. I believe big changes are taking place and i'm looking forward to it. I'm not gonna b**** and moan and wonder why things are not happening at a certain pace. It will happen, this team will be back strong soon

This place is notorious for dumping on players stil on the roster. Such is life. I hope Ariza makes the Lakers regret his departure.

If you believe the ESPN Trade Machine we have the following trade exceptions:

    Rafer Alston $1,400,000

    S. Francis $2,634,480

    S. Novak $797,581

    D. Greene $809,300

    S. Singletary $442,114

They can't be combined so the $2.6M one gives us the greatest flexibility since it's larger than the bi-anual exception that other teams will be using once the MLEs are gone.

hey since were going young and we currently have no center why not trade i say cook, lowry, or barry, either one of them to the nets for center sean williams he's young athletic and can block shots only thing is he's a high risk high reward but positives are he's a houston native, most likely needs a change of scenery, new jersey doesn't want him, and he can develop into a solid player whats your thoughts cluthfans?? i can picture brooks, ariza, and williams running the break :D ....

brooks/? if we trade lowry/ conroy
    ariza/taylor
    battier/budinger/white
    scola/landry
    williams/dorsey/hayes

this team could hold the fort down until t-mac and yao return man an uptempo team is gonna be fun to watch! ;) ................ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rauW_4EM4Y

I can't help but imagine what it would look like to have Ariza run a fastbrake

with Rubio or just catch and shoot, that was something we did not have.

I would call The Wolves and tell them to pick Any 2/3 player combo, depending.

yeah free agency is when these trade exceptions come in extremely handy.

we should do what the Nets did last season when they took FULL advantage of their MLE and trade exceptions.

They signed Jarvis Hayes and Eduardo Najera with their MLE. And then turned around and went after Keyon Dooling with their Jason Kidd Trade Trade Exception.

Sign and Trade with Toronto for Joey Graham with Rafer Alston trade exception of 1.6 million

Sign and Trade with Indiana for Jarret Jack with Steve Francis trade exception of 2.7 million

I haven't seen many people pointing this out: Adelman will be a great coach for Ariza.

As long as He can channel that determination on court then there is no stopping him from improving. He should play within the system of Adelman and continue what He started in the playoffs last season.

I would love to know what Daryl said to him to get him to sign and become a Rocket. With the Yao and McGrady situation so unknown, it must have been an awesome speech.

First, Sean Williams is a PF not a C. Second, if you're Chinese like me you probably followed Yi Jianlian and the Nets. If you did, you'd know that athletic, yes, but Sean Williams has either the lowest basketball IQ or the 2nd lowest in the League and we do NOT want that.

well im not chinese but you are correct he's a pf/c he has played the center position with the nets as well as pf kinda like the way mcdyess is a pf but played the center position in detroit... also about his b-ball iq, von wafer didn't have the best b-ball iq but adelman knows how to work around a players weakness and use there talents.. i believe adelman can develop him... remember he's only 22 he still has a lot of room for development..

With Artest's contract off the books and signing Ariza for about 2 mil less, wouldn't we have 2 mil less off the cap than we had last year or were we already past the lux tax last year?

If that team breaks 70 pts/game I'd be shocked

This article must have appeared in today July 4th's Houston Chronicle.
That section missing from my paper today. According to neighbors' calls to the Chronicle, the press broke down and some sections were not delivered.
I would rather have received the sports section than the classifieds...
Anyway, love Ariza. Cannot wait until the season starts.
I don't want anyone that played in the finals to be traded.
Of course I also want Dikembe to play one more year.........

wouldn't mind chris wilcox for 2 million, seems like he hasn't been given a chance to prove himself with a contender. let's see what he's got. he's a high flyer. i'd take him over zaza anytime.

Even though I think we are overpaying for Ariza, after reading this article I am beginning to like the signing.

Every player that we have gets raises....and the cap is going down.

we are over the tax line...and probably will be for most of the year unless they get really lucky and end up on the lower end of a +/- salary trade....plus probably letting a few of those TEs expire, they are only good for one year from the date they are generated.
