The Ravens aren't SB contenders and Andre isn't being traded.

Schefter: Trade? Very little chance it happens. A lot of babble about nothing. Texans determined not to trade him. His choices are to play or retire.

    Everybody has their price.

i like the hard line by the texans. the texans FO has no obligation to andre outside of his current contract. their obligation is to fans only.

andre should retire (and pay back 11 million) or play out the contract you and your stupid agent uncle signed.

I really hope the Texans dont weaken from their current stance.

Do not trade him. He can either play, retire, or waste a year of his career by sulking from the sidelines.

And then he will realize that he only hurt himself. He'll have to show up to camp with his tail between his legs...and he will have lost a million dollar roster bonus and any additional fines, all for nothing.

    I love that.

The FO will bend and give AJ that million dollars and everybody will be happy again.

    It's not about the million.

I wouldn't retire. I'd just payback this year's salary or do the bare minimum and wait. In the NFL, sometimes resting can prolong your career. It's not about age, it's about mileage. Sit and wait, Andre. Fake an injury or something.

Realist. It's the NFL. Both sides battle to do what's best for them. To say Andre's options only options are to retire or suit up and smile is not accurate.

Texans: "Just retire, then, bro, we'll call your bluff"
Andre: "Dheymnnn, got me, bro, okay, I'm coming, oops, tendinitis"

Talk about destroying your reputation and literally destroying all good will with the the franchise, the city, and all the texans fans.

'Dre needs to be a realist and honor the contract that he signed. If that contract was not best for him he shouldn't have signed it.

If he doesn't show up for training camp and shows up for week 1... They can't start him, he probably wouldn't even be ready to play but he would still get his game check. It could take the 1st quarter of the season or so before he's up to speed because that would be his training camp. I don't think he would fake an injury _ but if he gets banged up and doesn't won't to play unless he's 100% _ there's nothing the Texans can do about it and he still gets a game check.

Players who hold out and don't get their way usually never have as good of a season as they did in previous years.

In before Rocket River comes in and says something about the Texans not honoring their contract with AJ by cutting him (which is allowed per the contract).

Andre Johnson is a primary target for being asked to take a paycut or becoming a cap casualty next season. The Texans are not planning on honoring his contract, why should he? Again, this is the NFL, this is how negotiations work. Vincent Jackson held out for 10 games in San Diego and he's recovered fine.

Andre Johnson doesn't owe anybody anything and the organization no longer owes him anything. Andre wants to win or get paid. If that's his goal he should take every measure possible to accomplish it. The Texans want to force him into retirement, that's fine too.

If he pouts and fakes an injury it wont detour NE or any other team from wanting to sign him. He's not Chad Johnson or TO.

If the Texans force him to retire it may actually hurt their image a bit but I doubt it. We have a good reputation with players.

By that logic, most NFL players should refuse to play.

I agree - this is the most likely outcome, right or wrong. Not faking an injury or anything, but just being a disgruntled WR that doesn't give everything he has. There's nothing wrong with the Texans taking a hardline stance - but there are consequences to every action, and they should be prepared for them. Just like Andre should be prepared for the consequences of his actions.

Eh - fans are fickle. Look how quickly they turned on him after a long career of being professional. Or look at how fans have turned on Parsons for accepting a higher paycheck. Or how they treated Lin for doing nothing at all wrong but just not being a very good player. It happens in every city even to the best players - look at Favre or Lebron as example of people that won championships and still became hated. If you get your self-worth as an athlete from what fans think of you, you're probably going to be disappointed.

I didnt know Rick Smith was on this forum... I mean how in the hell else would you know what they are doing next year. They are trying to build a new system this year, need the help of their vets to be leaders, and they get whiny b**** andre who wants his million back after throwing a temper tantrum. Please show me where or when they said "Dre, come back, give us your best, and we'll cut you next season or ask you to take a pay cut (in which case you could go to another team that will win (NE) or refuse the paycut.. you still get to decide but u dont look like a baby right now)
And dont give me any of this "well hes the perfect target for that, or, thats how the texans operate"

    You sound like his uncle.

Favre left his legacy team to retire....no wait, to switch teams and try and get a ring, he was one of my favorite players, didnt know when to call it quits...

Lebron had all of cleveland believing he was staying home, they built a practice gym a couple miles from his house, he then proceeded to give them all a middle finger and run to a ring... he has started the road to recovery but also deserved the hate.

Ppl didnt hate lin for being bad, they hated that we paid him too much, he turned the ball over at the worst times, and most importantly, BROUGHT OVER A HUGE GROUP OF ANNOYING LIN ONLY FANS

Parsons, glad he got paid... not happy about how it happened and how Cuban f**ked us over, and mostly because bosh didnt commit. But in the end he was not very professional about the whole thing..

Most of these problems, probably very agent oriented.... and Andre has THE WORST ONE OF THEM ALL.

he also picked the worst time to be a whiny crybaby when we needed a leader then we are supposed to blame the texans for how they are GOING to treat him NEXT season, eff that, up until now we have done everything for him. Im over it.
