les is assuming mcgrady will return to be the great player he was. then there is a very good chance mcgrady will be here long-term. but regardless of all the good words, mcgrady has to prove he remains a great player. if he's not, les will ask morey to move him ASAP.
um no. morey has echoed the same sentiments as mr. alexander in regards to tracy's playoff performances: he's a great playoff performer (despite not winning). you can put every other national analysts/commentators who have done his series in the playoffs and see what they say about his performances. the reg. season and his injuries and how he sometimes reacts to injuries are the primary reasons he's often criticized. but his playoff performances, far from it.
Teams never run down their players before trading them, so why is anyone surprised over this? You expect Les to admit that Morey has been shopping Tracy for over a year, and that they figure his expiring is going to be extremely valuable at the deadline? Oh, and he's selling season tickets, you know.
Les is a businessman. Where is the profit in saying bad things about TMac? There is none, not for TMac's confidence and not for sales.
It's always amusing to see the anger from some folks when their opinion isn't backed up by the only person who's opinion counts. the ability to admit one might be wrong is a lost skill these days
Oh come on R2K, You know as well as anyone Les is motivated to sell tickets, and he is known for his hyperbole. "The best team we have ever assembled" ring a bell? He may indeed love Tmac, or he may be pumping him up...but reading what he says without knowing his true motivation for saying it leaves you with incomplete information. At the end of the day, we will all just wait and see..... DD
i don't agree with that. actually, i believe mcgrady because what he's saying is what he himself believes at the moment. when he said he's feeling like he's back after he took some time off to rest and strengthen his knee last season i believed him. he spoke the truth at the time because he really believed it himself. i don't consider that as crap or a pr stunt. unfortunately things changed quickly after he came back. and so he changed his mind from "i'm back!" to "i definitely need microfracture surgery.". i can't blame him for that because either time he told the truth. i have no problems with players who tell the truth. and that's how mcgrady is, he's always telling what he feels at the moment. you just have to know it's only the truth of the moment.
I am sorry, he said he was in great shape last year...and wasn't. He said after his 2 weeks off he was better than ever...and he wasn't. Tmac's history of truthfulness and honesty is not all that great. You and I are on opposite sides of the fence regarding him.....for sure. DD
I doubt it, Les is going to stab McGrady in the back. He is about business. He will do it to Yao too if an opportunity presents itself.
Well what would we expect Les to say? Tmac is still a Rocket. If Les said: "Tmac is a ball hog that's only concerned about himself and he kills the chemistry of the team" his trade value would diminish. Les and Daryl are smart men.
i am just waiting for Les to declare that the 09-10 Rockets are the most talented team he has ever had
Im not sure why any of you guys were expecting some type of honest candid interview with the OWNER of an NBA FRANCHISE not named mark cuban. Les is going to say whats best for his business, and thats to say his biggest investment was hindered, but he forsees good things. What else can he say? Yes tmac/yao experiment was a failure and its tmacs fault hes never been sucessful in the playoffs?
The funny part was when Les said that Tracy didn't run b/c he was injured. Even when he wasn't injured Tracy does not like to run or play off the ball. He complained to the media last season about Rick Adelman's offense b/c he wanted more touches. He must think the fans are stupid. We can see through the BS.
Um, no. Now, I WILL say that Tracy elevates his game in the playoffs. How well he plays with the team at that point, I'm forgetting; or is he just taking on all the scoring and the rest of the team stands around and watches (which is not all his fault). I just meant, McGrady is playoff kryptonite. He's the black sheep of the King Midas family when it comes to playoffs. He touches it, it turns to crap. It's like "A Bronx Tale". Did you say that movie? He's a "Mush".
it's VERY easy to see who plays bad/well or who plays well at the benefit of the team in the playoffs b/c EVERYTHING is magnified. if you want the easy analysis and simply look at his 0-7 playoff record, then you're done. it's not his scoring that is elevated, it's his rebounding, assists, AND yes even defense, hustle... the guy just brings it (taking multiple injections along the way).
