All of those players were older than Gay, two seasons worth I believe. Maybe teams didnt think he was ready to come out of the Connecticut oven yet.

You might be right that teams think he might not have been ready although I wouldn't say it's such a big deal...

Villanueva played one year at Uconn.

Gay played two years at Uconn.
Butler played two years at Uconn.

Gordon played three years at Uconn.
Donyell Marshall played three years at Uconn.
Ray Allen played three years at Uconn.
Rip Hamilton played three years at Uconn.
Emeka Okavor palyed three years at Uconn.

all these guys were better than Rudy Gay. There was no doubt about Ray Allen, Rip, Emeka, and Ben. There was doubt about Rudy or else he wouldnt have gone #8.

I'd be happy if he turned out to be as good as the other Uconn draftees. None are at Lebron's level and I don't think anyone is saying that.

    Wrong.
Coming out Gay was more highly regarded than Villanueva and probably even Caron Butler and Rip Hamilton.

milk is spilled. people are crying over it.

why not cry about not drafting Rashard Lewis? or getting Eddie Griffin instead of Richard Hamilton?

If we win a championship next year, no one will care about Rudy Gay. If Shane hits a 'kiss of death' type shot in the playoffs. All this none sense will be over.

Battier doesnt suck. At least we know that.

    that's why people are pissed.
Not drafting Rashard Lewis was a mistake.
This looks to be a huge mistake.

Battier doesn't suck, but most of us on the board do not believe he's the guy that's going to bring us the trophy next year. We're not one role player away.

    p.s. it's spelled "nonsense"

p.s. the season has not even started.
p.s. we haven't even done any trades or sign free agents.
p.s. a healthy TMAC and YAO can win a championship, just put a bowl in the locker room and have the players put crap in it.

we don't have much flexiblity and swift was actually one of our most tradable assets.

i love Tmac and Yao, but I don't think we're contending with what we have now.

exactly and he was drafted higher. there was no doubt about Ray Allen's game. There is doubt about Rudy Gay's game. Thats why he dropped down to #8.

Im not saying we did wrong or right. Im just saying people are overrating.
I would say the Rockets sucking this year has made people less patient and testy.

I hate to even mention the Spurs, but look at them. They dont have super high draft picks and they ended up with Ginobli.

Nobody knows what will happen next year. All I care about is:
    1. healthy Tmac
    2. healthy Yao
    3. healthy Bobby Sura
    4. POWER FORWARD (Juwan? Chuck? Free Agent?)

The lesson we learned from the HEAT. if you have a SUPERSTAR (With Heart) you can take it all the way.

tinman i don't think we're getting a healthy sura. if you replace that with a similar bulldog in mike james we're looking good.

we need a shooter and someone who can help on the boards.
maybe another scorer (who mike james?)

Maybe the real person we need is RUDY.. RUDY T!!

Read Rudy's book and how he decided to select Sam Cassell.

I like how Rudy put a team of LEADERS around Hakeem to win a championship.

    Mario
    Kenny
    Sam
    Vernon
    Otis
    Robert

All these players have desire and leadership. Sam Cassell not only brought his smooth game to the Clippers, he brought leadership, the love of the game.

The knock on Rudy Gay was sometimes he didnt seem to have the love for the game.

Love of the game. that's what we need.

    I agree with that.

Overrating Gay? I believe most of us had said that he could be great, but we do feel he can at least be as good as Battier. I don't think that's overrating him.

I agree we're less patient now. Although even when T-Mac and Yao were healthy our supporting cast did not look good this year. They looked worse than the 2004-2005 season.

This is why I wish we kept Gay or got more for him. We don't have quick athletic players the way our rivals do.

It does not look like Sura will be back.

I think the lesson was different. The Heat won because Wade could get to the rim at will either resulting in a foul or a bucket. And their role players came through as needed. I don't believe we can contend unless we get quicker and are role players are much worse than Miami's.
