I love T-Mac...really do...and wish him the best. That said, he's the laziest in terms of contesting shots and running out to shooters on this team. Artest overplays D a lot (and gets away with a lot of hand checks), Battier is slower these days but ALWAYS gets a hand up (even if it's too late), and Wafer gets lost a lot. T-Mac just doesn't try on D as much as the other wings do...he's not terrible, but he's the biggest slacker of the group when it comes to closing out. And I watch A LOT of film so I consider this an informed opinion. I still think this Rockets team has the best chance of making it further than any of the teams of the last 5 years.
He also said Adelman has been stressing defense that week too. I guess he was mocking the coach also.
some of you are just not been following rockets this whole season. What Ron did was right and about Damn time. someone needs to step up and tell the world what's going on and shake up this team. It has been kept too quiet when Tmac going in and out of lineup, playing not playing, and inconsistent among the team. After these many months, don't you think as fans get frustrated on lossing and seeing how Tmac has been in and out of the lineup? Sometime it needs someone to point out publically and get the attention of the above to straighten it out. Artest is the TruWarrior.
You guys still don't get what Adelman is saying. It's not about whether Artest is saying the truth. It's about pointing fingers, especially out to the media. That kind of things do nothing but damage to the team. I know some of you are just happy players talk in the press about TMac what YOU want to say but no reporter is interviewing you. I hate to question people their "real fanhood." But some people here would wish the team or the player to do bad to prove they are right.
Easy, The problem is that we fans have been watching Tmac slough off and take the easy way for 4+ years......and we have watched coaches and organizations pander to his candy butt. Maybe, just maybe some of us find it refreshing that someone is actually holding Mr Slough off, accountable....for once. I usually agree with you about keeping it in house, but in this case, I am glad someone is doing it, and it is hurting Tmac's image, because apparently that is all that Tmac really cares about..... And if that is what it takes to motivate Mr. slough....so be it. DD
Your memory is short. TMac played D under JVG. Remember the Mavs series? He played D, just not GREAT D. Under Adelman, he doesn't play at all...except for Sat. night...after he gets called out I agree that he has not played a lick of D this year and didn't play much last season, but he did defend under JVG. Not saying I want JVG back or anything, but it's true
Tmac did not play good D under JVG until the playoffs, he has been slacking for years on that end. He even quit in a game against Golden State after the Rocket's clinched the playoffs under JVG, and got yanked from the game.... This has been a career long problem with Tmac..... DD
agree with a lot of what you said. the last sentence is a bit of a cop-out though. i think last year's team with a healthy yao has a better chance than this year's team. this year's team is more talented, but thats about it. everything else about the brand of basketball being played favors last year.
Actually he rotated and gave an effort under JVG. Not Battier-type effort, but he was praised a lot for "finally playing some D" for the first time in his career. He rotated every time, sometimes fought through screens and sometimes played good iso D. Now he does none of that True about GS, though.
Artest maybe should call T-mac out because of defense. But lmao how in the hell should Ron call ot T-mac going in and out of the lineup, playing not playing when Ron did the exact same thing. It is like some of you only focus on T-mac and don't notice what other players are doing also.
RON is a moRON. He didn't know this may ruin the locker room? Why brought this up publicly? Even there was nothing really happened between them, reporter would make sth out of it. damn.
You guys are eating this soap opera **** up. I think these discussions are silly, that's why I say let them work it out or not. That typically pointing fingers is not the way to go. Coaches are the ones to call players out, not teammates, and definitely not in the media. If a coworker of mine that wasn't my boss tried to call me out on something, believe there will be a problem. Those of you say it's good he does it are a little off. What good come from it? You know McGrady won't change for Artest. Not like Artest has done anything to have room to talk. You have two options here, people start pointing figures, and everything goes to crap, or you say the right things, and let the coaching staff handle the rest. You have to know your personnel. I think JVG knew that. He was always able to get the most from his players. he was the type to take a personality like McGrady and talk to him behind closed doors to get his point across. As some of the players have said, "we need to look at ourselves" because believe that every single player on this squad has GLARING faults. What remains to be seen is can the team collectively cover up each other's shortcomings to be a championship-caliber basketball team. Anyway, this team is still winning. I think at the heart of things, we have high character guys on the squad, and I don't see them self destructing themselves. Even McGrady didn't say jack until that Orlando GM started talking. So let's hope they will find their groove and win.
yeah it sounds like Ron is finna get sent on his way... only thing is we know we're not gonna get equal value
what value does he have really? As a Rocket, none. With TMac we've seen his high value, and now his low value. Artest has pretty much been of low value since he came here. We wouldn't be losing much as we haven't seen much.
what about tmac? he was defending himself. i didnt see him calling anyone out. trade artest and alston. they are a cancer.
