yeah, he's okay, but I'm referring mostly to 610. when race comes into play on 790, charlie does a good job of handling it.
The Ticket can really go over the top sometimes and just get downright offensive and unbearable. Otherwise, it can be really funny. Although, you usually don't listen to the ticket if you want to hear sports stuff.
They give a good mix, its like the hangout only with more Sports. They are pretty wheels off though...
AB - funny diaper story. I forgot that. Here is my take. the morning show is like pulling a stool up at cheers and listening to an entertaining conversation. The topics gravitate around sports but do not reside solely within the realm. There are a host of characters that add to the mix, from callers to regular guests. some of them suck. some of them are fun. The principal characters (John and Lance) are great for sharing pain with (9/11 and post 9/11 was surreal on this station), great for laughing with (the "inside" jokes are usually well explained and people don't feel like an outsider for very long. More later.
I agree, the Ticket is the best. I wish Houston had a station like that. I listen to more 610 than 790, but only because they have more local programming and I just can't stand listening to syndicated sports talk. I do enjoy Pallilo on 790 though. Wish we could merge the two and have a 24 hour locally based sports station. That would be sweet.
It surprises me that the gap between the Drivetime players and Palillo's show is that wide. I can't listen to Rich and Marc without getting dozey.
Man we havent had a 610 vs 790 thread in awhile. I think Pallilo is the best with the night shift second. I have been a fan of matt jackson since he had his first show with jeremy back 2001. Jackson and Wexler are a great team.
790: Mike & Mike are OK. Colin Cowpatch is barely listenable. His "Spanning the Globe" segement is very good. What bothers me is he often repeats ONE point about 25 times in 5 minutes and veers off into philosophical babble way too often. It's almost like he thinks his audience is full of r****ds. CP is CP. He's finally allowing callers to make their points instead of cutting them off and completely dominating all conversations. I think he now realizes that he's not always right even though he can win debates with callers very easily. He's far and away the best right now but needs a foil to balance him out. Going solo is tough. Carl Dukes is boring. He has very good insights sometimes but it's impossible for me to listen to his show more than 10-15 minutes at a time. He needs a partner to liven things up. 610: Lance is OK, but he talks over callers so much it drives me crazy. Yesterday a guy calls in and makes a great point but Lance jumps in after about 10 seconds and the caller can't get a word in for about (seems like) 5 minutes. Lance completely hijacked the point and would just talk over the guy whenever he tried to jump back in and continue his thought. Granato is a completely worthless clown and unless the subject is the Texans, he is so uninformed it's amazing. Can't believe he still has a job there. Mark is still out of sync with local Houston sports fans. I'm hoping he gets an announcing job somewhere else and skips town. He doesn't fit. Rich has either been exposed or he has declined since teaming up with Mark. I used to like him but now he's just tolerable. Matt & Adam are the best thing 610 has to offer. I wonder if their management will ever figure that out. They should vault over to 790 and do the morning show but I'd miss them in the evening.
I am sorry to be the one to point this out to you...and I do realize tht these are your opinions...but you are completely, and totally wrong on all accounts. The perception with which you see the world is so out of line with what is really out there that I fully question your sanity. It's probably tought to swallow, having an opinion that is just flat wrong, but you need to know it.

I think that'd make a pretty good duo too. Though, I wonder what would happen if Adam tries to talk over Charlie like he does Matt. I'm guessing Charlie would put a stop to that real quick.
You are suggesting we "study" so that we can discover what we enjoy listening to? when someone called Lance & John to complain about how Gilbert (Mr. Anyways) was being used, the dynamic duo immediately went DEFCOM mode. Ultimately, they may have come to realize that the caller made some legitimate points but at the time Lance sounded like he wanted to choke the caller. it reminds me of the story of the chick that fell of the nest during winter. A big bull came & took a dump on the chick (kept it warm & able to survive). Soon after, a wolf came, wiped away the schit & ate the chick. The moral of the story is that sometimes those who schit on you are doing it for your own good while those who extract you from the schit are not necssarily looking out for your best interest. or something like that. sorry, but it's tough to swallow someone telling me i m dead wrong on something as subkective as who i enjoy listening to.
the customer is saying that Lance & John's show is good. it's ranking pretty high among other radio shows in its time slot. the customer is saying that 610 blows 790 out of the water.
The customer also says that Britney Spears is good. So is Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey. Cough. I'm not sure how big an achievement it is beating a sports radio station with only a couple local shows-and no local, cough, morning show-when you've been around for over a decade. Cough.
