I think what Van Gundy was saying is he has never allowed his point guard to go to he offensive glass and board. He knows Francis pulled down 6 a night.
I can think of a couple of reasons why JVG said he didn't have a rebounding PG. 1. Francis would at least turn over half of his rebounds. 2. The other half is easily negated by him giving up defensive positions and get lit up by opponent's PG on fast breaks. 3. Besides, Francis isn't really a PG anyway.
