Maybe he means Brainstorm? I really liked that movie. It was also the last movie Natalie Wood did before she drowned. The earliest thing I remember seeing him in was Annie Hall, as the brother who wanted to drive into oncoming traffic: <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/eb517cREJKk&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/eb517cREJKk&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> He was really good/creepy in that role. In fact, the thing to me is that he is such a perfect character actor that I'm surprised that he was able to make the jump to leading rolls.
His height, eyes and bone structure are much more striking as a young man. Reminds me of seeing Alan Rickman in Romeo & Juliet on some BBC taping from the '70s, rail-thin with that big nose and those narrow, beedy eyes. Yeah, a little ironic that someone who was in Annie Hall, Deer Hunter and Pulp Fiction will probably be better known for being Jay Mohr's best impression and a "cowbell" YouTube clip.
The only thing I remember from that movie is Joe being in the Silence of the Lambs pit and getting psyched when they dropped in the copy of Auto Trader.
