they not only have a great defense, they have stars.

Our lack of D is more of a coaching issue rather than a personnel one.

it's both. it's not a coincidence that we're getting more adelman type players (martin, miller) and generally they are poor defenders

Not a personnel problem? When 3 of your 5 starters suck at defense (scola, martin, brooks), your other starter is on his last legs (battier), and your best defender is a 6 ft 6 center, I'd say personnel is a big problem.

The Heat are listed as the 1 defense in the NBA in opposing teams points. It's really showing this game.

I think in the 4th the Lakers are going to make a strong push and then we'll really see who makes a statement for being tog dog.

best teams are boston and mavs.

heat and lakers have a long way to go until they get to those teams' level this year.

Artest may have made a big mistake by provoking LeBron. It will make sure the Heat come out focused and on edge in the 3rd quarter, which has been their calling card recently. You figure the Lakers might have the mental edge to start the 2nd half since they are trailing at home, but the Heat are probably ticked off by Artest's thuggery.

Man does Jon Barry hate the Heat. Haha, props to him for not hiding it or swaying his opinion, I suppose.

All the Lakers have to do is meet the Mavs in the playoffs and we'll see who's at the higher level.

Of course you have to play the games, but I see the Mavs repeating their broken record of performing worse in the playoffs than the regular season.

it sucks that wade gets lost in the lebron-kobe hype. he's a generational player also and reg. season-wise has been the 2nd best player after lebron the last 2 years.

Their defense was on another level when they went 67-15 in 06/07. But maybe Tyson Chandler will be the game-changer in the post-season this time around.

he said lebron was better last year. kobe just won a ring so his legacy is better than lebron. and i think a lot of people choosing kobe now is b/c of his legacy.

there is no way kobe is a better individual player than lebron right now. lebron dominates in too many categories and does it EVERY game.

it's safe to say chandler is a better defensive player than dampier. he's longer and more athletic. but we will see. i do agree with you that there is a great chance the mavs won't make it out of the west though.

I can tell Lebron is going to do something nasty to Artest this quarter
