This higher ground... "The organization's Web site says if it does not meet its goal of change, it will work to secede from the United States." So, any group who wants to take a state of the USA, and secede from it, can?
I remember the Daily Show did a piece on these guys. Twas pretty funny. They talk a lot but no one is actually moving.
This is how Zionism started, it was an ideal at first, and then became a movement, and was finally realized. You would be surprised how many Christians feel alienated from this society, and I can see why a fringe few might actually believe in taking extreme measures such as secession from the union. But no worries, that's Plan B, and will only go in effect if Plan A fails (that would be turning the US into a Christian state)
You make it sound so easy and you're giving them way too much credit. If they really wanted to make a difference they should have gone after one of the Blue States.
This is completely ridiculous. Dominate a whole state? I remember when Louis Farakhan first came up on the national media's radar. One commentator said he had the "potential to represent 1/3 of black America". Sensationalistic nonsense. If they want to take over a state, they should try Wyoming, which has about one tenth the population of South Carolina. Anyone remember Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh? He and his followers tried to take over a county in Oregon about 20 years ago. I don't remember the end of the story but I think he died.
Granny (Clampett) says the south never lost... Texas IS a separate nation. Rockets will win it all this year.
I saw a story on this on The Daily Show a few months back. They interviewed one of the individuals who moved to NC as well as the leader of the "movement." The leader claimed he plans to move to NC by 2010.
even crazy fundamentalist Christians think this guy/group are crazy, now that should tell you something... from UTI... Back in May 2004 I wrote about Cory Burnell, the math teacher and leader of the "Christian Exodus" group wanting to turn South Carolina into the next great world theocracy. You know, like Iran. Well, here we are more than a year and a half later and Christian Exodus is in the news again and going great guns! Five families, and nearly three individuals have relocated to South Carolina with our good friend Cory, the ex-cell phone salesman/math teacher/wannabe theocratic dictator. Why, that's almost a mandate right there! Unfortunately, even the Christian Fundamentalist wackos already in the state of South Carolina have problems with the Christian Fundamentalist wackos in the Christian Exodus group. State Sen. Mike Fair, a Republican who describes himself as "a narrow-minded, right-wing, fundamentalist fanatic," took issue with them: [link] "I had huge credibility problems with them," he said. "Their plank for this perceived buckle of the Bible Belt, they're so far off the mark. I don't think they're going to get much traction." Heheheh... Classic. Even the wackos think they're wacko! Best of luck to you, Cory, in your goal of returning to the Dark Ages. I personally think it won't work, but you never know. http://www.brentrasmussen.com/log/
