Overall, he is a good pickup at a reasonable price. I like him.

However, I can see why he has not excelled yet in his career, he just doesn't give consistent effort. His rebounding has DRAMATICALLY fallen off, his effort on D is at times putrid.

Seems like all he wants to do is score.

Now, maybe he knows this is a tanking year and is just going along with it - but his effort level seems to be lacking on the defensive end and rebounding significantly.

So far, he looks like a 3rd player in a good team - a Capela - not someone that can lead a team.

I think his frustration with not being a bigger part of the offense has unfortunately spilled over onto the rest of his game.

Back when you-know-who was here, he sought out Wood on most plays and made sure he was involved. Those days are as gone as you-know-who is.

I'm tired of these knee-jerk reaction threads. Yes, he had two bad rebounding games. He also averaged 10 rebounds in five of the last seven games and has 23 averaged points the last three games. His TS% is still over .60.

It's like everyone is ready to pounce on him and I really don't get why.

U just now realized that Christian Wood is a 3rd option or 3rd best player on a really good team? Some of us have been knowing that

He was never that good of a player. However, he has shown tremendous improvements to get to where he is now. A lot of people saw his highlights with the limited playing time he got in Detroit and thought he could be a big time player. When someone's career timeline looks like this(also getting cut by a Chinese team), you just hope he could be at best a 3rd best player on a team. But dude somehow thinks he's a franchise player and has the ego of one. He just needs to check his ego(or someone needs to do that for him) and continue to work on his game, and he'll be alright.

Even that can be debatable. He hasn't even been on a winning team yet or lead his team to winning consistently for anyone to even truly know. All we know now is he can put up some numbers on bad teams which essentially doesn't mean much. There's still a ton of question marks surrounding this guy

he’s basically a worse version of KAT to me...or a discount, homeless AD on offense while being nowhere near him defensively

started the final 12 games for Detroit last season averaging 21, 9, 2 and is averaging 21, 9, and 1 this year...team record of 11-31 in those starts

people will say he’s playing on bad teams which is true, but it’s still obvious he’s not that guy

He thinks his ceiling is Anthony Davis. His actual ceiling is a poor man's KAT.

The reasonable thing to say is he probably isn't as good as his best games nor as bad as his worst. I think it's fair to assume his play pre ankle injuries and when there was hope for the season is more in line with his ability than now. Hopefully that means he is a guy who can score an efficient 20 with close to 10 boards. I don't think he'll ever be a plus defender given his frame but that kind of production is more than adequate from a second or third best player on a good team.

It’s almost like there was a reason he was available for the contract they got him on!

Don’t get me wrong. I still think getting Wood was a great move and think he’s on a good contract. I never bought into the hype about him being an All-Star early in the season, but he’s not far off.

Hopefully, that consistency will come with more reps.

If that! However, that's still not a bad ceiling for him imo. He just can't pout and get upset when he's not getting the ball or when things aren't going his way. My biggest frustration is that he's just caught up in a false sense of reality about who he actually is. He's never going to get those foul calls he's looking for and people are going to continue to play physical and push him around. However, getting a true PG can make it easier for him (hope its Cade).

Wood ain’t even a 3rd option in my eyes. Wood is essentially Capela. Capela was the 4th option on our contending teams behind Harden, CP3, and Gordon.

he's averaging 21/9 on a 60% TS making only $14 million the next couple of years. that's about what chris bosh was averaging at 23 for a fraction of the price. that's a steal even for a 3rd option
