Where's the evidence of this though?

I think Wood is pretty similar to Dwight, on paper he is a big time asset but on and off the court he wrecks chemistry of the team. It is kinda telling Mavs don't want him back even on vet min.

LA has Lebron so I can why they take a chance on him but for our team I don't think so.

I was asking it as a hypothetical, not saying he's a humbled man, just curious what people would think if that was the case.

    Hell no for me.

We don't need any more projects. We're a roster full of projects that need stability around them. We need guys who are what they are and what they are fits into what we're doing. It's exhausting mentally and on resources to have to motivate people. Coaches have to coach as JVG said, they don't have infinite time to motivate people and turn careers around.

Christian Wood's energy is bad. To have that "I deserve better" energy in the locker room is poison. It drags others down. It take valuable time away from coaches having to communicate with that player excessively.

Ibaka, Dedmon, Noel, Meyers Leonard, Dieng all still available if we want competition for backup C minutes. At the vet minimum I would sign any of those guys over Wood. Dieng and Ibaka have range and defense, one of them with Spurs experience and the other with championship experience.

Perhaps this is the point at which you ask yourself if you have been underrating defense. NBA championship teams 99% of the time are top 10 offense and top 10 defense. It's not top 12 defense and top 8 offense. It's 10 and 10 for a good reason.

For the rest of eternity, half of the possessions will be defense and half of them will be offense. Regardless of how the NBA changes, it won't change that each is half the game. Offense is more important with the game on the line and the ball in your hands, so you can say it's 50.1% offense and 49.9% defense.

The idea that offense is materially more important than defense or that defense is less important these days is a myth.

So many of you guys were mad at the return we got for Christian Wood. Now he can't even get a deal over the league minimum. If this is what the league thinks of Christian Wood, then Stone got an amazing return for him. How do you get a 1st round pick for a guy that nobody even wants if they have to pay him a dollar over the league minimum?

Despite what some say, we still need another big and Wood is versatile! He brings shooting and rebounds and he can block shots. Let Ime work with him

It just means the league is evaluating younger players before someone like him.

I mean there are other Free agents still left, it is not the end for him.

He absolutely would not get big money and more than 1 or 2 years lmao.

I'm sure Udoka & Co. have more important business to tend to than working with an egotistic cancer with no motivation on defense.

Wall & Wood were the original culture setters. Don't forget it.

what’s depressing is that Wood was our best player last year, and now the market seems to think he’s probably close to a Vet Min guy… So for all the hand-wringing about TyTy/Garuba/Christopher - they couldn’t get playing time on the team where Wood was the star!

All of these players have unquestionable talent, including Wood. But in this league player value is determined by his contribution to winning, not by talent. They are all tainted and damaged by the losing culture and bad habits. If Wood is Vet Min, then why are surprised we had to pay draft picks to get rid of TyTy/Garuba/Josh? The rookie scale money they make is overpay in the eyes of the NBA. Losing destroys player value.

Wood was our best player while he was with the Mavs? TyTy was a rookie last year and was never on the same team as Wood.

By letting him pad his stats for a while, while you are tanking and want to lose.

It's kinda tragic for him, or at least it would be, if he weren't a millionaire athlete. He was a legit 20/10 guy for us - a big man that can hit the 3 at 38%. If he just played within the system and really focus on his defense, he could be a player every team wants. Now it seems like, mostly because of his character and work ethic, he might even be out of the league at age 27.

It's not that losing destroys player value it's that Tyty and Co couldn't even get PT on a garbage team. Like JC is on his 2nd year but can't even get more than 12 mins of PT for a 20 win team.

Woods problem isn't his talent it's his attitude since he doesn't try hard on defense on the court.
