What is the possibility not to offer 77M/4 years to a player if he is really your second best?

He's giving them very similar numbers to what he put up here on better shooting splits .....

I didn't know they offered him two years at max money, easy to see him wanting a 4 year deal but I wouldn't give it to him, apparently neither will the Mavs.

Is there a team out there that gives him 4 years at max money?

It’s not max money, just max allowed for his extension which is around $20m/year.

Funny how the likes of double d and all dem wood stans slobbering over this player and lamenting how we got rid of him, man isnt even a starter with the Dallas mavericks.

Goes to show how awful some of our posters talent assessment levels are at.

I dunno why y'all still hate Wood but the dude is easily worth the 20M he is asking for.

    Wood - 17.7/8.2/1.7 63% TS 37% 3 pt
    Sabonis - 18.6/12.2/7 66% TS 35% 3 pt

He is basically Sabonis light without the passing. The only reason we wanted him gone is cuz Sengun is better and he is too old for a rebuilding effort, but if healthy Wood can def be a 2nd or 3rd option on a contending team considering how efficient and multidimensional he is at scoring. Mavs effed up they should have retained Brunson and then used the savings to pay Wood.

I don't think that was the only reason we wanted him gone. Maybe some locker room issues or something off the court? The guy bounced around a lot.

That has always been the main reason throughout his basketball career.

who says he’s asking 20M? When he was here he was talking MAX, which is $35M+ ?
He’s a good 2nd option, he may get close to it from Mavs, out of fear they lose him like Brunson… But for Rox it didn’t make sense: we need to find a #1 before shelling that kind of dough for a #2

Yes and he is still one of the most accurate big men shooters.

Dirk won his single ship with shooters, that's how.

He's probably had some mental issues as well, so nope to 4 years.

It's really just a defense thing with Wood.

He can't defend ANYONE and because he's a center you can't hide him like you can a poor defender on the wing. He makes it impossible to ever have a good defense.

There are some other things but I think if he had the skill or will to just play average defense on the worst front court player he would still be a rocket.

He doesn't have the added value of being able to run an offense like Sabonis so at times he's also just isoing when another player could be getting an easy layup.

I will laugh so hard if a year after Jalen Brunson bolts and leaves the Mavs with no assets to show for it Christian Wood does the same.

Lol, sure my bbs viewing experience is ruined by all of the persistent pervasive pernicious posting presence of the legions of Christian Wood fans.

    Both of them.

I can assure you my friend - it is one of my most closely held and treasured beliefs - and you stand zero chance of ever penetrating its adamantine outer core.

Dirk collapsed like a pack of cards once Tyson Chandler's defense was gone. Cuban had the nerve to say Dirk was better than Hakeem Olajuwon. Lol !

Wood's best defense on the Rockets was throughout the second half vs Steven Adams and Ja Morant. He should do better against lighter bigs despite his slight frame. I'm not complaining about him since he's a Mav.

I was replying to people specifically hating on him now on the Mavs. Obviously retaining him made no sense for the Rox thats why he got traded.
