From my perspective there is no reason that the rockets HAD to deal Christian Woods. It ain’t like the rockets are flushed with talent. And when you give up a player that’s averaging 19 points in 10 rebounds a game and you are bottom feeder team right now because you have no talent I don’t understand — please, somebody explain it to me.
Wood isn't all that good at offence either... He is SO SLOW as a passer. Basically a ball killer who can't screen
THANK YOU...... And the he didn't fit because he wanted to lead etc......can be cleared up by defining his role on the team - unless he REALLY did not want to be here. DD
Some other poster said it well. Dallas traded their 1st round pick for 1 year of Christian Wood. The guy wants big $ in free agency. Who was gonna give up more than a late 1st? you can fault Stone for not trading him sooner at higher value but you can’t blast this trade. Few teams wanted Wood. Perhaps #26 gives us a better chance to make the deal we want that adds another rebuilding chip? Let’s see what we do with the pick.
Honestly, anyone that watched Wood play should have been aware that any GM that did their homework would not part way with valuable assets for Wood. He's also up for a new contract. Ignoring his attitude issues (which includes quitting on the worse team in the league), his on-court play is not conducive to winning basketball. The biggest win here are the additional minutes for Sengun and Garuba, and potentially Paolo. We also came away with FRP and expiring assets to open up cap space. If we think of it in the shoes of a playoff team, knowing how Wood plays, how many assets are we comfortable parting ways with to pick up a guy like Christian Wood for one year?
You don't remember the beautiful Wood+Theis combo? Watching Wood defend in space, run the wing, and operate on switches with his hamster basketball brain is up there with watching an entire season of Juwan Howard as our go-to scorer. Good memories.
you couldnt wait till the deadline because the trade partner would have lost the option to extend. the asset would have been a lot less valuable.
You got 20 wins because you have serious gaps in talent and are very young, thanks to Murray. Christian Woods was a bright spot.
Getting Wood and his lazy style away from this group was necessary. Wish the pick would have been a little better, but it is what it is for an expiring lazy player. Let's see what Stone does with it.
Whew. Thank god. Can I now double down on all my bets Mr. Blackjack dealer? My good luck charm has come through. F'ing AMAZING trade Raf.
there’s is more to a team than your box score numbers… Rockets will likely be drafting another big in Paolo…they have Sengun…they have Green and KPJr who will need their shots and touches as well Wood is selfish, cares only about himself, and would certainly not like having to lower his shots and usage to make way for Paolo Wood and his selfish attitude had to go. Stone was smart to make it happen people act like Wood is some star keep getting catfished by his boxscore numbers
Yes agree but he's a tall guy that can shoot very well especially for his size. That's pretty good. As long as he's forced to do what he's good at he will be pretty good in dallas imo
