Wood is like Siakam…cool when he’s your clear cut 3rd option and not getting paid big money

but when he has to be more than that is getting PAID, he’s no longer enticing

I am guessing that this was a Silas move to match up with Jokic - as Theis played him well in Denver.....nothing more.

And maybe that Wood got mad at halftime.

DMo would never have done that. It's time to bring him back.

So get him back in 3 years when he matures and realizes he should never be the number 1 option?

I wonder what he did. Hit someone else upside the head with the ball?

I can’t help but think that Wood could be a truly great role player on a good team. On paper, he has a combination of skills that is rare to find. He can shoot the 3, has the athleticism and finishing ability to be a great roll-man, has the agility, length and timing to be a plus help defender.

Unfortunately we don’t have the right coaching / back-office set-up to guide him accordingly, nor a pass-first PG to put him in good spots. Wood lacks the maturity and basketball IQ to leverage his skills in the right way for his team to win. So he continues to create off the dribble, take step back 3s, try to lead fast breaks, not recognise mismatches, call his own shot when KPJ forgets him for 5 possessions, not go all-out on defence, pout on the bench etc.

I am unsure whether he will have a big trade market in the off-season nor significant offers in FA. Part of me thinks that he would be a useful long-term asset at $15m per, once other pieces of the puzzle (scoring, playmaking, defence, coaching) come into place. I believe in his talent, that I would hesitate trading him this summer for a late first rounder - unless, of course, we have really given up on him.

Immature Players who don’t set proper screens, understand their role in defense don’t usually become role players. I would say he could have been a role player or a star player but has not become either. If he somehow falls into the right hands and has some sort of awakening, I think he might be useful but that place is not Houston or any rebuilding team and I would not want to be the team that is taking that risk.

I don’t think he will get any significant offers. I won’t be surprised if there Is no interest at all. I hope he gets shipped and he is somebody else’s problem though.
