It would not surprise me if there were another side to this story. You would do us a great service if you could expound upon and help us figure out the reality (jews in nazi germany) you mentioned.

We really are getting a rash of these white anti-government types in 2010, aren't we? Is it a trend or an aberration?

Red Chocolate, be careful what you say on the internet. You know the govt is reading.

    It is a trend.

A trend that began, not so surprisingly, with the presidential election of Obama.

    I posted it earlier: http://www.splcenter.org/get-inform...ot-groups-militias-surges-by-244-in-past-year

They should be sent to Gitmo and tried in a military court without due process. The courts will just let them use technicalities like "innocent till proven guilty". Let's use "enhanced interrogation" to discover all the members of the network and all the preachers and politicians (sorry, Palin) who might have inspired them.

Hey, I just found out that the woman who works in the room next to me thinks that the only way to fix this country is through armed revolt. She is kind of an idiot but very much a bully to her underlings and tries to act like she is brilliant and all should cower in her presence. Fortunately, I don't have to deal with her, but now I am trying to think of excuses to go into her lab and drop some comments that will make her head explode. She is very excitable so it would be entertaining to watch and, again, I don't have to work with her so it would all be win-win.

She makes an obscene amount of money for her position so getting her into full meltdown mode could aslo save tens of thousands a year if she becomes incapacitated!

    I am a bad person.

But definitely this is a mantra that is getting repeated more and more and is somehow becoming acceptable for people to say in public. I have heard it on morning music stations on the radio, at work, and read about it. It is wacky. When I was younger I would tell anyone who would listen that I thought there would be some kind of race-based civil war in this country but I moved past that and have not thought about such things until recently. I never thought it would be based off of having a black president but now it seems as if certain groups can latch onot Obama's full on "otherness" with regards to name, race, education, being part of evil government/socialism and that it can fuel the fires of everyone else who might not go with the race issue but go with anti-government or the like. It is fascinating, honestly.

Batman was happy that I was wrong that we could not elect a black president in 2008, but part of my concern was reaction. I hope he is still right overall and that this will die down, but I wonder what a rabid reaction to Obama will do for blacks long term

I'm not too pleased with the uptick in the anti-government stuff that seems to coincide with Obama's election. But, if this is the fallout for electing a part-black president, then I'm encouraged overall. This isn't anything that will put unendurable stress on our civic model. The big changes, like the tea party movement, aren't virulent; and the virulent ones, like this militia, is very small compared to enormity of the population of adequately-sane citizens.

You guys are missing the point, these are called code words. If you are a Muslim planning an attack against the U.S. government, you are a terrorist. If you are a Christian planning an attack against the U.S. government, you are a militia person. These words are being rendered more meaningless by the day, but they are designed this way because people can relate to the image of a Muslim terrorist or a Christian militant. Our government knows that most people are dumb and ill informed and prefer simplicity, so they use these code words to help them out. They are just code words, it is really that simple.

An update on this story, looks like the government has an airtight case against these guys, they planted an undercover agent and they basically have a bunch of incriminating tapes against these nuts

so, at least one was a democrat, and another a (very) profane Bush-hater.

    there goes the narrative...

You mean the narrative that only you had drawn up in your head, apparently?

These guys wanted to kill Americans! I'm pretty sure they didn't care about D's & R's.

I think we're all glad they're off the streets

Don't worry, I don't think anyone was fooled. Whether militia or terrorist, I feel confident 99% of the population isn't pleased that this group planned to kill a bunch of cops. And, I doubt many people are identifying with their campaign to violently resist the antichrist by attacking the government just because the paper decided to call them a 'militia.'

(I know this is a ridiculous thing to respond to, and I'm beating myself up for it.)

    Here's the sentence...

basso, as you well know, there is a decent history of people from both sides voting in the other party's primary to skew the results away from the person they'd least like to see as the nominee. Rush even encouraged it during the last cycle. Now, this guy may well be a Democrat, but citing the primary votes as the definitive word on party affiliation is not wise. Heck, for all we know, in 2004 he could have been voting for LaRouche and in 2008 against Obama because of race. (I'll also point out that a number of militia/Bircher/Teaper types couldn't stand W.)

What we do know is that all these guys are pathologically paranoid losers.

The other issue is that you feel it necessary to proclaim that these guys aren't Republicans. Of course they are not. However, it is interesting that you have such an interest in convincing others (or yourself) of this fact. One would think you would eventually ask yourself why this happens and such a question might lead you to think twice about the rhetoric and actions of the leaders of the current Republican Party and maybe work for change so you don't have to be defensive when some right-wing lunatic goes off. Or not.

Sorry missed this until now. This post pretty much sums it up, the rabbit hole goes pretty deep but the controllers of the media are looking to demonize Muslims and Christians, and especially domestic dissenters. These militia raids are always the same operation: bunch of Constitutionalists get together to BS and share a couple of beers with innocuous motives, they get infiltrated by a Fed, who hypes them up and then offers them some explosives or bombs, and they inevitably get raided. If anyone's going to blow up a building, it's going to be a member of the govt. 99% of the time.

It's hard for these guys to tell their side of the story when the media has unlimited funds to put out the propaganda that the govt. wants the public to hear and go along with. This is how it's always worked through history. Dissenters, whether they be political or religious, are always strung up on the public square to be made an example of in order to scare the sheep. Our media is just a less bloody version of that approach.

THE DECODER RING FOR AMERICAN CORPORATE MEDIA

As a child, I used to like digging to the bottom of a box of cereal to find one of these rings and deciphering the message on the back of the box. The code for the media is pretty simple once you've got your hands on the ring.

Here's how it works: any group that is being demonized by the media is almost assuredly NOT a threat, the govt. just wants you to think it is. Muslims, Tea Partiers, militia groups, NOT A THREAT. They're actually the good guys, for the most part, just like most peaceful anti-govt. fringe groups. If the founding fathers were to reincarnate in 2010, the media would rake them over the coals.

The media is in collusion with the govt (don't kid yourself), so of course any group that is a threat to their power will get smeared to high heavens. The media just bombards you with violence and fear (anyone remember H1N1 vaccines? lol) and then completely ignores the subject once the public has been saturated with info. This is why you hear nothing about Osama Bin Laden any more, no one cares as long as we know what Tiger Woods is up to. Wake up, stop listening to them, or use their codes to know what they're really trying to tell you.
