It is a 'Marvel' concept- Daredevilish, The Punisherish, and a little Spiderish too. Hope you had a nice Christmas!
I think you misunderstood me. Under the law, it can only be carried out by the government, not by an individual. Obviously, one might think that death for adultery is a rather extreme punishment, but Islam has a very strict moral code. The point here though is that this cannot be carried out by a vigilante trying to take the law into his own hands. As far as Islam being peaceful, I think that is an extremely problematic idea put forth by Muslim apologists. It's not "peaceful" nor is it "violent." It was prescribed as a social code engulfing faith, spirituality, but also social order.
I'm getting confused here with Dakota. "Vigilantism" is not justified in Islam - the point being that prior to Islam it was the norm amongst the tribes. As far as killing in "self defense", I'm not sure how anyone can argue there's something wrong with that concept. It's universal.
Na na na na na na na BI-BLE! Na na na na na na na BI-BLE! BI-BLE! BI-BLE! BI-BLE! Sorry couldn't resist.
DD, In a Muslim community, one must allow "Awleya' Al-Amr" (or authorities) to bring him/her justice, not take the law into their own hands; that would be choas. It would threaten social harmony/stability, which is un-Islamic. The faithful must delegate their rights to "Awleya' Alamr", no ifs or buts about it.
The Philippine government is kowtowing to US after all. It appears the Marines are in good hands. http://famulus.msnbc.com/famulusintl/ap01-17-092751.asp?reg=pacrim&vts=11720060943 U.S. rejection of request for custody of Marines charged with rape sparks protests CARMEN, Philippines, Jan. 17 — The United States on Tuesday refused a Philippine request to hand over four Marines charged with rape, provoking anti-American protests in the capital and the Muslim south, where U.S. troops began annual counterterrorism training of Filipino soldiers. In a letter to the Philippine government, the U.S. Embassy invoked the bilateral Visiting Forces Agreement, which allows large-scale U.S. training in the country, and vowed to keep the Marines in its custody during an upcoming trial. Prosecutor Prudencio Jalandoni said he was disappointed but would ask the court handling the rape case to abide by the U.S. decision and set a trial date. Custody of the Americans ''is important for the purpose of showing that we are a sovereign and independent state, but ... what is important to us is that justice be done,'' Jalandoni said. A Philippine judge last week issued arrest warrants for the Marines, who were charged with rape late last year while on liberty following counterterrorism maneuvers with Filipino troops. Prosecutors allege that Lance Cpl. Daniel Smith raped a 22-year-old woman Nov. 1 inside a van at Subic Bay, a former U.S. Naval base northwest of Manila, as fellow Marines cheered him on. Smith claims he only had consensual sex. Also charged were Lance Cpl. Keith Silkwood, Lance Cpl. Dominic Duplantis and Staff Sgt. Chad Carpentier, part of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Force stationed in Okinawa, Japan. The embassy hasn't released their hometowns. The case has stirred emotions in the former American colony and is seen as a black mark on U.S. military exercises, which have been credited with helping weaken al-Qaida-linked militants in the country's restive south. About 30 left-wing students with mock arrest warrants lay on a scorching road near the U.S. Embassy, raising their fists and yelling: ''Arrest the American troops and let them pay!'' Left-wing Rep. Satur Ocampo called for the abrogation of the Visiting Forces Agreement and said the U.S. rejection of the custody request was ''an insult to Philippine sovereignty.'' Renato Reyes, head of the left-wing umbrella Bayan, called for a boycott of American products — an unlikely development in the country awash in U.S. goods. Sen. Joker Arroyo said the U.S. decision ''will only provoke ... a re-examination of the VPA and if need be, its abrogation to correct an inequality and settle once for all ... the question of custody over U.S. servicemen who commit criminal offenses in the Philippines.'' About 2,000 protesters also greeted American troops in the southern town of Carmen, about 560 miles southeast of Manila, where they started monthlong exercises with Filipino troops. Zaynab Ampatuan, deputy head of the left-wing Muslim group Suara Bangsamoro, said the local Muslim community ''should not allow U.S. troops to train Filipino troops to run after suspected terrorists. No other suspects are being arrested except (Muslims).'' The protesters carried streamers ''Never again to gang rape,'' and ''U.S. troops out now.'' Maj. William Nagel, commander of Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group Airborne, based in Fort Louis, Wash., and his Philippine counterpart said U.S. troops will mostly be restricted to the camp. ''I am confident that we will not have problems that may have happened in the past,'' Nagel said, adding: ''I will make sure that my soldiers behave in a manner and in keeping with our standards.'' The Philippines relies on U.S. military training and equipment to fight the Abu Sayyaf, an al-Qaida-linked group blamed for high-profile kidnappings and deadly bombings. Associated Press reporter Jim Gomez in Manila, Philippines, contributed to this report.
Why is it pointless? Do you not want to hear about your Christian, American brothers terrorizing innocent children in foreign lands? Or are we only allowed to post Muslim misdeeds?
How do you know they are Christian? They could be Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Athiest, Agnostic, Satanist, Hindu, or anything. The only things that are known are that A) They are American, and B) They are criminals, not terrorists. Try to refute this post please.
Japanese businessman wrote a book about 15-20 years ago saying the world was lucky the USA won WWII. Said Japan and Germany would not have been nearly as benevolent. We are not perfect, but we are pretty damn good!
If the marines are found guilty, would they be serving time in Phillipino jails like the marines who were convicted of sexual assault in Okinawa? I'm thinking the Phillipino jails are more Turkish like than not.
Dude, first of all the Philippines has always been a strong ally with the U.S. The majority of Filipinos have a strong admiration towards the Americans & anything American, from movies, sports, language(English is like a second or third language spoken & taught in school, which is modeled after the U.S). The majority of filipinos speaks & reads English. Of course there are some filipinos that dislikes or hates, but mostly the politics of the U.S. and these are the most vocal! Rape is rape and should be treated accordingly in a court of law, innocent until proven guilty. And for some people to compare this to a terrorist act against the filipinos is just plain r****ded! Both countries join forces to keep these idiotic al-queda, abu sayaf, and other dumb ass Muslim extremist groups , along with the cummunist (I spelled this on purpose) & other various rebel groups from causing havoc to the country. The majority of filipinos are weary of these groups.
The Philippines has been a colony or a semi-colony of the US military for over a century. They're not going to prosecute US Marines for anything if we don't want them to; that's the case here. I am not saying they hate the US, I never made such a claim, but they're hardly free to make demands.
It's pretty pathetic when you try and turn this into a religious war. Especially when you don't have a clue whether or not these guys are even Christian. Hopefully people don't get sucked into this.
