Equating Congressional/Senatorial votes to viability/efficacy, especially since 40 is a pronounced minority, is lolz.

The Republicans vote in droves, and don't concern themselves with things like efficiency. Hell, their leading authority on economic matters (aka the one guy who at least tries to have a grasp on these things) published something like eight books on Austrian economics, which is kind of like publishing eight books about how the world is flat.

We need a guy like Christie who's willing to take a stand. His public calling out of the teacher's union took balls and he was correct.

Great comebacks here calling him fat. This from the allegedly open-minded liberal people...it shows that whether conservative or liberal, each are fascist and discriminatory in their own views.

He's not only a fat obnoxious turd, as I pointed out, like basso, he's either ignorant or mistaken to the extent he implies that Obama hasn't proposed a budget.

I love anyone who stands up to these society devouring unions. General Motors and the Airline Industry have been destroyed continually by these beliefs and now we want tax-payers to subsidize these bad ideas.

Lets not let our Country/Cities go the way of the Airline Industry.

What in god's name does the budget deficit and the House republicans trying to force the US to default on its debts have to do with General Motors and "Airline Industry"?

I'm talking about Chris Christie not the debt limit.

On that issue, its just politics and grandstanding. I don't believe we should raise taxes or substantially lower efficient spending to stimulate the economy.

Both would be counterproductive in an economy where the government is one of the only demand creators.

What happened is that it's basically the same one that's being discussed now by the so-called "gang of six" - and the one currently most likely to pass, not like the politically disastrous Ryan "plan" which was D.O.A.

The plan is for congress to vote to raise the debt ceiling like they have for decades.

What teh actual plan should be is eliminate the idiotic debt ceiling vote process entirely.

a better overview of the process.

but then, the president is usually something more than a passive participant, particularly when it's his plan...

    ...assuming he has one.
