Wasn't it last season (pretty much every season actually) that the Kings played their best ball without Webber?

Finally AI has someone out there with him, Webber might not do for him what Mutombo did but he's still a huge improvement.

    PG-AI
    SG-AI2
    SF-Korver
    PF-Webber
    C-Dalembert

Who thinks they can upset the Heat or maybe even the Pistons now? Probably not anyone but they can scare the **** out of them.

    Rasheed Wallace>Chris Webber :)

I personally think that Webber's trade value had diminished and they took the best possible trade they could find.

If you recall, Webber has often been injured and the team actually played better without him

I totally agree. This is part of Maloof's ultimate plan.

If you depend on jump shooters to score all your points, you're gonna get run in the playoffs. And Peja's far from a prime-time player.

Okay, I now withdraw my earlier admission that SOMEHOW the Kings record with Mobley would climb above 60%.

...and some of the Kings complained about Mobley not sharing the ball? Just wait until they pass it into the black hole that is Kenny Thomas.

Iverson got rid of everybody who could also score. (stackhouse, Hughes, there is another but i forgot his name). i'm curious how he will play with another scorer

I'm fairly certain Peja was popping champagne the moment he heard this went down.

Can you imagine the scene 2 weeks from now when the long-time kings gather together and say, "What the hell is up with these ball-hogging former rockets!"

seriously. in terms of talent, mo is a little less than kt, juwan is a little more than corliss, and skinner and spoon suck. in terms of contracts, you've got the long ones (kt and howard), the medium range ones (corliss and mo) and the expiring ones (skinner and spoon). and i think the total owed to them all would probably be fairly similar also.

i don't think CD would've made that offer as a practical joke, much less a real offer and lo and behold this crap happens. i know webber has a negative +/- and is owed a lot of money but you've gotta get something better than this.

    Classic!

Anyway, I liked what the radio man said this morning, something like "Now Webber can disappear in the 4th quarter all he wants, because someone on his team (Iverson) is gonna take over in crunch time."

Iverson's constant movement with Webber's passing ability is a dangerous looking offense.

This is the stupidest trade yet, other than the Mullin one...I just don't get it...Now what about Peja? Why would he want to be there when they're not going to contend...

What was long considered the best passing team in the NBA now has both Cuttino Mobley and Kenny Thomas in it's starting lineup. I think it's safe to say that the Kings have fallen from contender status.

I don't think Cuttino will stick around, to be honest. I mean, it IS Sacramento.

Peja became an MVP candidate last year with Webber sidelined and has fallen off considerably this year. I think the Kings did the right thing. They will miss Webber's passing, however. KT has stickum on his hands, youknowwhatI'msayin?

Don't forget Webber's ability to hit from long-range.

Jim O'Brien has been trying to run an offense with AI attacking and four shooters spread around the perimeter, but he hasn't quite had the personnel. C-Webb (and Rodney Rogers off the bench) makes O'Brien's offense that much more potent with a spread out floor for AI to wreak havoc.

The huge thing about this trade is it pretty much cements Philly as the Atlantic Division favorite -- which gives them the 3 seed. So they go from struggling to make the playoffs to the 3 seed in the East.

There were a lot of happy folks at the Wachovia Center today ...

Well, I'm glad that Webber is not on our team. I'm glad we didn't sign him a couple of years ago, and I'm glad that we didn't trade MoT, Spoon, + ? for him.

However, Philly made out like bandits. Who would have thought that KT and his ginormous contract would get you someone who is taller than him, can shoot better than him, and rebound better than him - even if he is an overpaid injury-prone choke artist?

Well, I guess we'll have to see how things work out. Webber's size will be a little more dominating in the East, and he'll pick up the extra AI rebounds that all big men playing with AI enjoy.
