Yes, they are throwing in the towel... they know that there's no championship coming this year.

I wonder how this will effect their negotiations with the city for a new arena... hell, this could ultimately be the Maloof's grand plan to get the team out of Sacramento, and into a place like Vegas.

WOW.. are you kidding me!?? Skinner and Thomas? Common.. the Juwon, MoT, and a throw in would have been just as good. Some teams have all the luck..

I swear - I can't believe the number if insane transactions recently. This tops them all. Sacramento better be getting a s***load of picks or release rumors of Webber blackmailing mgmt because this makes no sense on any level. Not one of Kenny, Corliss. or Skinner are worth a damn or have good contracts. This trade is comparable to much of the crap homer fans post on RealGM.

Really? for who? Detroit? Miami? please... Webber is still solid, but he's no longer playing on a great shooting team (which was the source of all his assists).

Am I the only one that thinks this is not a bad move on King's part?

They played very well last year without Webber. Webber lost his explosivness anyway, which made him a slight better Brad Miller. With Kenny and Cat in the new lineup, they still have enough fire power. With Webber, they were not going anywhere anyways. The trade solves chemistry problem as well. Not a bad move at all.

This is madness. Giving one of the best power forwards in the NBA for a bunch of trash!!!

Unfortunately, I don't think they were going to trade Webber anywhere in the West.

I think Sac will be already (although they got raped) - they have scorers, they could use some role players

... that being said, I wish they would have done this before the Rockets played them (so Webber wouldn't have been there to hit that shot !)

I still can't believe this. That is ALL Sacramento got? What in the world? Williamson is owed like $6-7 million a year until 2007, Skinner $5-6 million a season until 2008 and Kenny Thomas is in a 7-year, $50 million deal until 2010!

Webber's field goal percentage is down significantly the last 2-3 seasons, but he is still averaging 21+ points, almost 10 boards, 5.5 dimes and 1.5 steals a night. And they took contract deadweight for him.

And didn't Williamson accuse the Kings of lying to him about a contract promise/terms when he was with the Kings many years ago?

Those three got Webber, and we can't dump off Mo Taylor? This should give us some frickin' hope.

Unless Webber goes to rehab or shoots a skank outside his house tomorrow, this is the most preposterous trade have I ever heard. What the hell are the Kings thinking? Go Sixers.

Agreed that they needed to get out from under Webber's contract, but usually you atleast get cap relief, multiple draft picks, or atleast ONE talented young player. The Kings are getting absolute garbage in this deal. The best player they're receiving is an undersized power forward with a ridiculous contract. How did they not atleast get Dalembert or Willie Green?

If the Rockets had a point guard that could bring the ball up the court without falling down, they'de be 5th by next week.

Webber may be talented but he wasn't tough. With this trade, Sacramento gave up talent for some blue collar players. Corliss, Skinner, and Thomas to some extent give you toughness inside. They got bibby, mobley, and peja on the perimeter and hope that b.miller will be more aggressive now with webber out and the other guys rebounding for the shooters. Looks like they are a bit more similar to Seattle now except they have an inside post prescense with b.miller. Will be interesting but talent wise Philly got the better deal. I think the kings are betting on chemistry being better with this deal.

The impression I get is Skinner is done, knees are shot or something. Notice that he's only averaging 10mpg. Corliss is old and Kenny is a marginal starter. And they all have s*** contracts. I don't see how you can defend this trade unless there are picks involved.

It's not even about Webber being all that. He may not be that valuable, but he's not garbage. That's essentially what the Kings traded for: garbage.

Well, then (since the contracts they got back are just as bad as Webber's)... they're either trying to become an ultimate run-and-gun team like Phoenix and Seattle (they're faster without Webber, no matter who is replacing him)... or they're seriously trying to alieanate Sacramento to get a chance to move the team to Vegas.

The Kings in Vegas would do VERY well... and the NBA would work it out (don't allow wagering on games in Vegas... just like for UNLV).

If Sacramento can't build a new arena, forget about them staying there.

    Great deal by Sacto!

They are now officially screwed. This team is bound for mediocre records for years to come.
