if its done properly, I dont see why anyone would have a problem with it. I forgot who brought up Blazing Saddles, but that's the perfect example.

Could Bob Marley say it since his father was white?

Is there a pamphlet or Cliff Notes version of who can say what?

The only movie I saw with them together was Hear no Evil, See no Evil? I dont remember the blackface scene, but I probably would have laughed at it since Pryor was involved.

The man's a genius, it's too bad a lot of people don't remember him these days. I actually thought he had died a couple of years ago.

not bad. but did you find it odd the narrator, although black, was somewhat using the typical "up tight white ancorman" delivery

Warning: I am not very good with what's PC and what's not. I've lived in the Middle East almost my entire life. I may use words the wrong way or have skewed perceptions derived from different sources (media mainly). Being PC is not a huge deal over here, so we're more free with our language when talking about race. That's not to say we don't respect each race's uniqueness, but that we aren't accustomed to the sensitivities present in different places in the world.

Can I say it (the word)?

I'm Muslim: We were the first to eliminate racial bias when the prophet intentionally appointed the leader of his own mosque/prayer a black man (Bilal PBUH). May not seem like a big deal, but up to that point, blacks were being mistreated all over the world. Big step IMO.

I'm Middle Eastern: I have some persian blood, some Arab blood, and some African blood somewhere around 3 generations ago.

My people were oprressed too: The part of Iran where my family moved from was heavily scrutinized because we're the 1% of the Iranian population that's Sunni Muslim.

In fact, my grandfather apparently used to "buy" slaves from all over the world and set them free. I guess thats important.

Inititally I didn't wanna bother asking. But then I thought I'd much rather be corrected and/or constructively critisized than kept it to myself forever. I just want to have a feel for what the mindset is I guess. I sincerely apologize if I've said anything that's considered offensive to anyone!

Doesn't that kill his higher ambitions? I guess if he gets old and desperate enough, he could pull a McCain.
