If that happened, that would have immediately made Morey the GM of the decade. Who else has gotten even close to acquiring 3 players the likes of CP3 (best PG according to many) , Harden (2nd best SG behind Kobe, now perhaps #1) and Dwight(best center) all in under one year???

Next up perhaps Kyrie Irving or Rondo

We'll never know.... PGs are easier to obtain than getting quality bigs these days
And we have aplenty of latter

If we were able to move TRob for no incoming salary and a couple of draft picks/international players, we surely would have been able to do the same for Omer Asik. Then, using those picks, we could ship Lin to a team with cap room and throw them 1 or 2 picks to seal the deal, similar to what Golden State did.

Net loss for sure, but to bring in Chris Paul we'd have to do all that it takes. If we work on a S&T with either the Clippers or Lakers we'd likely lose Parsons. If we deal with an outside team we would keep him.

    Paul
    Harden
    Parsons
    Jones
    Howard

Bench still consists of: Garcia, Beverley, Motiejunas, Camby, Canaan, Casspi

Oh well. This story goes to show: Stars now want to play in Houston. We almost got Dwight Howard AND Chris Paul. Who's to say LaMarcus Aldridge or Kevin Love aren't the next stars to put us at the top of their list? We have the assets, picks and cap flexibility to make it happen.

that's crazy, to think we could have had the best PG, SG (arguably) and C in the league on one team.

    would've been sick.

Would have been worth it for a CP3 + Harden + Dwight big three. That team is equal to the Heat.

    Better core than the Heat.

Awe man!! Wish I hadn't heard that.

It's ok, luck/morey has been on our side. We need a PF more to be a complete team anyways.

But dang.... That's what you call some leverage

That team would handily beat the Heat. It isn't our stars vs their stars, it's our stars vs their star. Bosh got abused all Finals and Wade can't stay healthy.

LeBron would destroy us but he'd probably get overwhelmed by our constant offensive onslaught. We would have far too many weapons to outduel them.

Paul seems like a competitor, not the type to jump ship and join the best party. He wants to lead. Even if he ends his career with no rings I'm not sure he regrets his decision. Despite flopping all over the place he has some balls.

It's always a dicey proposition when you commit to the Clippers though.

I think the hard part is to get Chris Paul and Howard to say they want to do it. With their agreement in principle, the other parts become easier to execute.

But, it doesn't sound like we were really very close to getting Chris Paul to say yes. Doc wanted to come, so getting him wasn't particularly hard for the Clippers.

In hindsight maybe we should have bested LAC's offer to get Doc. We could have stolen him from LA, and that maybe would have convinced Paul to come.

It would have been a huge gamble, but it could have paid off.

Why man? I think that was stupid to even tweet personally. Dwight prob would of stayed in LA had Phil Jackson been hired (again), so I mean it's all perspective. I am perfectly happy the way it all worked out. You have a GREAT.... not good... Team to cheer for!!!

The fact he had to make this threat for the Clippers to make that move tells you all you need to know about the Clippers.

It just goes to show how the tables have turned completely in LA. Dwight would have stayed with the Lakers had they just signed Phil. They refused to budge and lose their star player, the Clippers react quickly to sign Rivers after Chris' threat, and now they're on the verge of contending.

Yeah, that they'll do anything to keep their star player happy. Any team, including the Rockets, would do the exact same thing.
