http://clipperholics.com/2013/08/01/nba-rumors-chris-paul-threatened-to-become-a-rocket/ Chris Paul informed the Los Angeles Clippers that he was planning on signing with the Houston Rockets to join James Harden and Dwight Howard when the deal for Doc Rivers fell apart, according to a report from ESPN’s Bill Simmons. The Clippers ended negotiations with the Boston Celtics over the compensation they would send in exchange for Rivers. The Clippers eventually reinitiated talks and send a future first round pick to the Celtics. Paul subsequently agreed to a $107 million new contract with the Clippers. Would of had 1 or 2 championships by now. That lineup would of been good.
I posted in the other thread about trading harden how i hate that he flops and whines but he is the 2nd best pure point guard ever in advanced stats. Morey's even called him the greatest pg IIRC. I don't doubt Morey wanted him very badly.
so he used the Rockets for leverage to get the coach he wanted, then got knocked out of the playoffs by them. LOOOOL
CP3 is not a b**** boy like Lawson. Harden would have been held in check, CP3 is a leader. And CP3 would actually pass the ball to Howard.
Bad fit alongside Harden. Our biggest regret is Bosh - that one girl who got away. She was a perfect fit.
Lol, so true. I wonder what he was thinking to himself when that happened. People saying "But Harden..." seem to forget that Harden has played along side Westbrook and Durant...and several other elite players on Team USA. He'd adjust, Chris Paul would make him adjust.
It depends on how much he signed for, I mean a trio of CP3, DH, JH with no defenders at the SF and PF spot and no bench wouldn't win many games. As for CP3 he might be one of the best pgs ever, but considering the NBA hasn't had a championship team with pg at the head since Magic and Billups for 1 season I think pgs as a whole are always overestimated in terms of impact so honestly I don't think having CP3 would move the needle much if it meant losing depth and guys like Bev and 3Za who complement HnH to a T.
Curry isn't a max player, and he's not predominately a distributor like Paul. I don't believe the report either (at least not that Paul really intended to sign here).
