Rose carried his team to have the best record in the NBA last year. His impact on the game i think is being under appreciated. If you watch those Bulls games they really have no other scorers that can create for themselves. He takes over 4th quarters and is completely unstoppable. Now that he is learning how to shoot from long range his game will only get better and better He was the MVP of our league for a reason.
Rich Buchers top 7. No Chris paul but rose is at #2. Just some food for thought. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=213720
Does he make his teammates better? Carlos Boozer looked all world with Deron Williams running the show. Chris Paul is the intelligent man's PG. Savvy, controlled, and a master of tempo...
They had the best record in the NBA last year.........if you take him off that squad they are 7th or 8th seed in the East and probably wouldn't even make the playoffs in the west. That is ur answer.
Deron Williams is still the best PG in the league, he just doesn't have a good team to showcase that.
A composite ranking based on the opinions of 91 experts. You're not the only one who can pull up random opinions that sportswriters have published. Just some food for thought. *again, I like Rose. Just defending Paul.
You could flip a coin and get better prediction for playoff than experts like Hollinger. He makes wrong prediction 90% of the time.
No one doubts Derrick Rose, but no one should doubt the elite intellect that Chris Paul shows every single night. He is a master manipulator and one of the best game managers the NBA has ever seen. By the way, the per game averages of Chris Paul have him ranked number 4 overall in fantasy basketball right now, so the numbers back him up. Kyle Lowry is number 3! Derrick Rose is number 13...
We can keep arguing about this forever. You know very well that because of Rose the Bulls probably won another 20-25 games. In the playoffs he avg over 27 ppg and nearly 8 assists so i'm not sure where you are goin with that. Let me stress that I think Paul is a very good player, and does make a great impact on his team.......I just think at this point Rose is a better player.
Derrick Rose is great but CP3 is a more complete PG. I'll take Paul over Rose any day of the week. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/i4E1SIRYvls" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
27 points on 39% shooting... Not to mention the freezing of Carlos Boozer... Young and inexperienced in game management...
Understood, I largely hated the Player Rank. My post was 75% parody and 25% real opinion, the 25% coming only from the fact that this was 91 sportswriters saying this in concert. ...on .396 shooting, as I said (as did knote as I wrote this^). It's easy to put up scoring stats when you take 23 shots a game. But you can use raw scoring stats to argue that Antoine Walker was better than Jason Kidd, too. But forget Rose...I've yet to hear a reason Paul isn't a superstar other than raw point totals and gut feeling that Chris Paul isn't a top 5 player. He is. But even if he isn't, where do YOU put him? And how many guys behind him still get more hype as a superstar? (oh, hi there Carmelo!)
I like how everyone throws out the "more complete pg" point. It is as if this trumps everything else. So according to this logic Steve Nash is still a more complete PG and floor general than Rose which would conclude that all of you would rather have Nash ? I don't think any of you are giving enough credit to the MVP of our league.
I don't know of any superstars in the modern era that avg around 15 points and 8 assists.......do you ? I agree that stats aren't everything but they are definitely part of the equation. I am not one of those guys that says there are 10 or 12 superstars in the league. I like to keep my list to the top 5. I put Chris Paul right underneath that class.....probably 7-10. If you disagree with my definition of superstar so be it. If you disagree and put him in the ranks of Lebron, Durant, Kobe.....then i think u are an idiot. Sorry
In today's NBA, this "complete PG" and "pure PG" talk is total nonsense. I used to think it made for good discussion but no longer.
I do give some credence to it but I'd have to agree some people on this forum make it the only point of contention.
07-08 CP3 was a beast. If that was the Cp3 that we had now, i'd clearly say he is the best PG in the NBA.
If CP3 reverts back to his MVP form of 2008 (he should have won instead of Kobe IMO), the Clippers are my Finals favorite from the West. But I don't see that player now. He's still great but not at that level. CP3 won my respect that year because down the stretch, he stopped whining to officials, toned down the flopping, dominated every single game and carried his team.
