James Harden (and I didn't really have to think too hard or twice about it.)

    Chris is criminally underrated.

Look at his net rating when he is running the show by himself. Teams are getting destroyed.

As good as James is, his turnovers are an issue. This team is better suited to have Chris run the show when him and harden are on the court.

Please add a Jeremy Lin option to the poll. You know if he got a fair opportunity in the NBA he'd be the GOAT.

    Who is better at basketball?

I used to get beat up on the Stros forum for saying Yuli Gurriel was the second best hitter on the Astros at the beginning of the year. I know a bit about sports. I think its clear if you take off the James Harden homer glasses that Chris Paul is just a better player.

Harden is a top 5 player, Chris Paul is not. Harden finished 2nd in the MVP race 2 of the last 3 years and should be the clear front runner for the award this year, Chris Paul did not and should not. This thread isn’t even necessary. Chris Paul is great, but there’s level to this. He’s not in Harden’s tier, and it doesn’t even matter because we have both and will proceed to destroy teams on our way to a WCF matchup against GS.

Harden. Chris Paul should run the offense in crunch time though.

Right on. I expected it, but like you, I thought folks would at least let Chris play a decent number of games before uncorking what will turn out to be a mess of a thread, in my opinion. At least tmacfor35 can look forward to having a thread that lasts into the playoffs. Whether it should is part of that mess I mentioned.

I'm not sure I'll ever vote in the poll, but if I do, it'll be after the All Star break. It engenders a divisiveness we really don't need right now.

    Its good conversation.

By the end of the year, the voting totals will be about even.

I love watching James play as much as I did T-Mac, but you can tell Chris could score 30ppg if he wanted to do so. The game is much easier for Chris.

He was dominant in the playoffs last year.

Yes, Chris led them deep into the 1st round. See how easy that was? I think it's unfair, but what do I know?

Hey, we all saw Mcgrady in the playoffs in the mid 2000's shutting down Dirk and looking like the one of the best players in the league(which he was). I don't think you should hold guys like Chris accountable if the team he was playing with was trash.

99% of the threads on Clutchfans are not "necessary."

Advanced Metrics suggest Chris Paul has been a top 5 guy.

We both know MVP race doesn't determine who the best player is. If it did, Lebron would win every year.

I can agree with this, but Harden is still the better player. Harden plays amazing off ball with fresh legs.

Advanced metrics after 4 games and being on a minutes restriction? Seriously? What advanced metrics have u even brought up? PER and net rating when Harden is off the floor and CP3 is going up against bench units after only 4 games?

Harden was averaging 32 and 10 and had a 30 PER like a week ago, and that was with Chris Paul not playing. He had 56 against Utah on 25 shots when they were the 3rd ranked defense at the time. They dropped to 10th after that game. He is still the league leader in RPM by a considerable amount. He is at 8.57 with the next closest being Steph at 6.65. Harden is leading the league in win shares right now, and he has done so in 2 of the past 3 seasons. He is on another level now compared to CP3. Harden has been better than CP3 since the 14-15 season.

You can’t make a serious argument that CP3 is currently a top 5 player, but u can for Harden.
