Both CP3 and Dwight aren't happy with their teams. Both got eliminated in the first round. Both got ejected in their elimination games. One thing is for sure, if there ever was a legit chance of Morey acquiring either star via free agency.. it's this summer.
Id rather see one of these CP3 Harden Parsons JOSH SMITH Asik OR Lin Harden Parsons JOSH SMITH DWIGHT Id be cool with either or. but I prefer the lineup with CP3
I'll take the all nba big man. Lin Harden Parsons Josh Smith Howard That's a contending lineup. And I think Smoove may be easier to convince to take a payout.
forget Paul on this team...didnt the CLIP Griz series show you that you can have the best PG in the league, but if you dont have guys that can get the job done down low you're screwed! Matt Barnes dropped 30 last night and it still wasn't all that close most of the game.
That is because you had guys like Butler and Odom, taking bad shots and doing nothing else for the team. When Chris Paul is tied for rebounds among your starters at 4, you have problems even with Blake Griffin out. I'd rather have CP3, he will basically take over the offense allowing Harden to work at being a SG rather then the hybrid PG that the team has been trying to make him all season. He also instantly takes over leadership. While I like Lin, this is a legit upgrade for the team, more so then Howard and would make this a much better team.
Paul would be much bigger upgrade than Howard. Howard sucks, by the way. Please let him never become a Rocket. Asik is our man.
Either one of these lineups would be amazing and very possible looking at the two free agents if we signed one: Millsap S&T for both scenarios: Lin + future 1st + someone else if needed (D-mo or even Delfino's expiring contract if they want cap space) Sign Millsap to a 4 yr/$42 million deal (10, 10, 11, 11) - Team Option 4th year Scenario 1: Sign Howard outright. Trade T-Rob for a 2013 1st. Trade Asik + T-Jones + 2013 1st from T-Rob trade + maybe our 2nd for Bledsoe S&T for Millsap Bledsoe Harden Parsons Millsap Howard Scenario 2: Sign Paul outright. S&T for Millsap. Paul Harden Parsons Millsap Asik The first scenario is my favorite of the two. Bledsoe would be a perfect fit next to Harden, and he's only going to keep getting better. He is like Beverley on steroids. Better driver and passer as well. Freak athlete. Great defender. Imagine Bledsoe and Beverley coming at you on defense for 48 minutes as the opposing point guard. That's exhausting. The only potential worry there is resigning both him and Parsons down the line because both will be looking to get paid, and we might not have the cap space depending on how much they want.
82-79 4th quarter Lin turns over the ball then gets back on defense to be scored on by Derek Fisher. Other players continued to miss assignments and turnover the ball. Positive thing is next year we will have a better team.
Agreed. I think it's a lot easier to win with an ok PG and an elite big man than the other way around
How can people say that we don't need Lin because the Rockets' system doesn't want a ball-dominant playmaker, and then go salivating over CP3? Are these people advocating that CP3 become a lockdown defender and knock-down spot shooter to complement Harden? Or does logic and consistency break down when we're no longer talking about Lin but rather a superstar like CP3?
What about Millsap and Jefferson? $14m for Jefferson and $9m for Millsap should be able to put us on the line with the cap and I think the both of them are capable of improving the squad further. Role players will need to redo their contracts in order for us to have any breathing room. A ideal squad composing of Al and Millsap Lin/Beverley/Brooks Harden/Delfino Parsons/Garcia Millsap/T.Jones/Robinson/D.Mo Jefferson/Asik/Smith *Question mark over whether Asik will play back-up to Al Jefferson after this year *Lots of convincing to do in order to get Garcia/Delfino/etc. to take a pay cut *PF's needs a lot of trimming this offseason, someone's gonna leave. Both Millsap and Al aren't Paul and Howard but since its unlikely that they will leave LALA land, this might be a good option to explore. (Posted this in the other thread but thought this might be a good thing to bring up here too)
Being the 3rd best player in the NBA doesn't mean you get an additional basketball to play with on the court. The Lin-Harden "problem" becomes even more magnified, not solved, with CP3.
I'm sure Morey is thinking of a plan to get both to form the next big 3 Paul Harden Parsons Howard best chance at takein down Miami..
The Rockets in the regular season ranked 7th in offensive efficiency and 19th in defensive efficiency. Pretty clear that defense is our bigger weakness. Who addresses that weakness better? Obviously, Howard.
How about we get both of them. Did anyone notice Chris Paul wearing a rocket red suit/sports jacket to the post game press conference last night? Its a done deal...
