Part of that is because his teams fade when he is not playing and going all out. If you give a team with Parsons, Harden, Asik and all the others, the hope is that doesn't happen so he can get more rest during the season to let things heal better, and be ready for the playoffs.

Still say we should reunite Paul and West on this team... Paul, Harden, Parsons, West, Asik.

    This.

Howard. You need a shooter who can play defense to play alongside Harden - not another ball-dominant guard. We're not looking at just talent but also FIT.

JLin for CP3 stat wise will be a better trade off but I highly doubt it will make a huge impact for this team. However it's will be a huge win situation for JLin if he goes to the Clippers. He will get a chance to be a true PG. I doubt the trade can happen and I'm sure the clippers and the fans won't support the trade for obvious reasons.

Lol, the fact that you're even mentioning Lin as if he is in the same breath as Chris Paul makes me chuckle.

I like Lin, but come on lol

Why not Chris Paul AND Dwight Howard?

Trade Asik and Lin for expiring contracts

Here's the thing. CP3 is a better player than Howard, but if we sign him do we become legitimate contendors? Defense will improve but I don't think it'll improve drastically because we'd still have defensive problems down low. I know Lin is no CP3 but we already have another play maker in Harden, and I think with more experience Lin will be able to fit the bill as a solid point guard. If I had to choose between CP3 and Howard for this team, I'd go with Howard because we desperately need some offensive and defensive talent down low. I'd rather have that than sign CP3 and have two ball dominant playmaking guards without any improvement down low. And it's not even that Harden and CP3 wouldn't be able to mesh. It's just that I don't think the Rockets would be able to be Finals or even WCF contendors with the same glaring offensive and defensive problems down low.

Of course DH12 wouldn't be my ideal choice either. I'd take Marc Gasol or LMA any day over him, but I guess he's the only one available this summer

As Rocket fans, we need to band together and form a movement on Twitter to get them to come here. Let them know that it's not only possible for them to team with Harden and Parsons, but the fans are rallying behind it as well.

Dwight Howard checks Twitter almost every day. We need to let these guys know! The least we can hope for is having them read the tweets and think to themselves "Hmm.... this could actually work."

It isn't like Harden is a robot, programmed only to be ball-dominant. McHale and the rest of the coaching staff can easily change the game plan, and have Harden play off the ball.

It's not impossible for a great PG and a great SG to play alongside each other at the same time.

I think CP3 is going to pick the team that has the ready pieces set to contend for a championship, right away.

Could you imagine Chris Paul and Dwight Howard coming together to play with Dirk Nowitzki?

The very thought of that trio together is frightening.

Nowitzki is on his last leg, why would they sign a new contract to play with him?

We either try to land a big fish now and sacrifice either Lin or Asik,

Or we stay the course, play it out 1 more season and then try to land a big time PF, the likes of Kevin Love or Aldridge. I wouldn't give either--the Max, but the market would probably dictate them getting it.

He still has enough to play an effective 2 years. Jump shooters age better than slashers.

At this point in his career, Dirk would make for a deadly 3rd option.

The only way I could see Dwight leaving LA is if Chris Paul has something to say about it.

This. I've mentioned this in a different thread. We as rockets fans need to spread the word on Twitter/social media. We need to plant that seed in their head and convince both Paul and Howard why they should sign here.

    No. Dirk is old.

I can see the Lakers making a push for Paul. (ducking the rotten tomatoes and eggs). If the Lakers amnesty Kobe and trade Pau away for cap space along with Duhon and Blake...they could conceivably create enough space to sign Paul to play with Dwight. Then bring back Kobe next season on an MLE deal.

Chris Paul has been better the last couple of seasons, but I think Dwight Howard would be perfect for us. Just look at how many times Asik fails to catch passes, or how many times he grabs an offensive rebound that he can't put-back.

Don't get me wrong, I think Asik has been the MVP of our team and he has improved alot, but Dwight is a RICH man's Asik (which is a huge understatement) who would probably average 25ppg in Asik's role.

Dirk isn't too old to be a 3rd option. He still plays at an all star caliber level.

You do understand that there is such a thing called cap room, right? It wouldn't even be possible to sign Chris Paul and Dwight Howard to max deals.

Maybe if Kobe was amnestied, that ain't happening, though.

Jim Buss would be a dead man walking if he axed Kobe.

Dwight Howard is no longer the Dwight of old, now he's just old. You are overestimating just how good he still is. He's always been limited offensively. Now that he's 28, with a bad back, and out of this workd athleticism that may never come back, he's not a dominate force worthy of a maximum deal.

Don't really think that's the right way to look at it.

    Rockets ranks right now:

    Offense - 6th
    Defense - 16th

Is Chris Paul going to improve the Rockets' offense more than Howard can improve the defense? With Paul you'd have to change the entire offensive philosophy. Not only would Howard improve the defense more than Paul, he'd improve the offense more than Paul would as well. Not only is Chris Paul not changing teams, he wouldn't help this team that much anyway.
