Oh FFS, Paul does not flop 40% of the game. That is so ridiculous. He'll do _maybe_ one flop, two tops a game, and usually he's getting bumped a little and is exaggerating contact with bad acting. I went to hundreds of NBA games in the 80s and yes, this kind of stuff happened then too. Doesn't anyone remember Bill Laimbeer? How about Danny Ainge? John Stockton? Come on. It really got worse with the European influx starting in the early 90s though (Vlade of course being a big pioneer).
That right there is homerism, the way you don't want to believe how bad he flops. The difference between harden and cp is that Harden will flop on his way to the basket as he anticipates contact, same with the jumper. Cp however does it off the ball which is so frustrating. He will jump in front of you or go into a spin cycle and do some absurd crap that is clearly not going to make him fall. We know our star flops but at least he doesn't act like a little girl getting beat up on most plays.
Maybe Paul's flopping looks worse but I guarantee Harden gets a lot more BS points from his stuff, since he gets to the line more than anyone and half the time he's just throwing his arms up when he gets near the hoop. That is flopping in my book. The Clippers had a master of this for many years in Corey Magette, so I know exactly what it looks like.
For some reason I'm the only one who really doesn't care about flopping. It really just doesn't bother me. It's something the players know they can exploit, so why not use it? Sure it looks ugly sometimes, but I just accept it.
Their's been multiple threads about Harden's flopping in the Rockets section. This is DISH - where we discuss other teams and players. Did I have control over Morey trading a flopper to my favorite team? Why does it prevent me from discussing other eregrious floppers? Why do I have to bring up Harden everytime I want to discuss Chris Paul flopping in the DISH? You're just bringing him up, straying from the topic because you feel you got to to defend "your team" by taking potshots at the Rockets to get under our nerves.
these kinds of acts and behaviors do not belong in society or on an nba court. i think it is undesirable. isnt the nba a sport about character and sportsmanship? now tell it to your sons that what you wish
Well, I wouldn't go as far as to say that I accept flopping, but to be honest, I can't really blame the players. I would do it too if it gave me an advantage over an opponent. At the end of the day, this is professional sports, and all that counts is winning. As long as the league doesn't punish floppers more severely (suspensions, for instance), we'll have to live with it.
There is a difference between selling a contact to make sure the refs see it and fabricating something that is not there. Chris Paul is an accomplished artist of the latter.
Yeah its professional but it can turn into a farce, a standard needs to be maintained, even if not all consistent. A very enjoyable watch for the whole family no doubt, i hope you fall on the right side of the coin, otherwise WWE might do
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EOYSzVLQyc Yea ok.... This thread should be renamed butthurt Rockets thread. This thread might be worth something if the Rockets didn't have a flopper who flops just as much as CP3.
that happens in 2k sometimes. the legs go up at a 90 degree angle, but the players usually go through that glitch. cp3 couldnt flop his way out of that tho lol
so he gets kicked in the head, a clear flagrant 2 and paul's head jars back from the contact then there's a secondary jerk back, then there's the head fling the other direction, and finally the arms flail in the air.
Agreed. Harden rarely invents contact, he just sells it when he gets fouled. CP3 completely makes **** up multiple times a season.
