^^ No. The only one here with their panties in a bunch is you. The rest of us are just enjoying the mess that Chris Paul created for himself. No one accused him of being sexist before he made those stupid comments that opened up a can of worms. In fact, I am still not accusing him of being a sexist. I am just laughing at him for making unprofessional and bonehead comments and then not being smart enough to clarify it and quickly close the chapter behind him. You and the NBAPA lady can run around being his internet white knight all you want but the longer he waits to man up, come out and straighten things out himself, the more he damages his reputation. No one's reputation is at stake here but Chris Paul's. Sorry but that's just how public relation works.
I'm happy for you that you are such an expert in PR and I am a mere layman, but you seem to lack any semblance of basic human psychology knowledge. If my friend and I were in a heated argument and I threw the first punch and was accused by those around me of being a fight instigator, so be it. I deserved the label as I threw the first punch. However, my friend was also African American. Now those around me accuse me of a hate crime and racism. Do you believe it to be a rational response from me to defend myself as NOT a racist rather adamantly and turn to people to vouch for me as I believe I am being falsely accused of something as vile as racism? Again, I see Chris Paul's response on his defense against being labeled a sexist as a rational human response that you or I would commit. Since I avoid being a hypocrite as much as possible, I will not judge him on this matter. Again, as you are having "fun" with this situation, you are obviously showing your preconceived contempt for Chris Paul and your objectivity is severely lacking.
Thanks for the compliment. However, I am not using my PR expertise here, just common sense. Sorry, not a good analogy. Now, If you were stupid enough to make a dumb comment, you had better clear it up before people around you start wondering about you. Also, after the fight and then after making some dumb comment, if you got your mom or your girlfriend to come out and tell us how you are such an awesome person, instead of providing an explanation yourself, you bet everyone will be laughing at you.
Those who have a tendency to place premature accusations on a man based on conjecture and emotion usually will not listen to the accused in a rational and objective manner. Invoking a third party to help you clear your name is a rational and human response that I am confident you would attempt if this situation happened to you.
Disagree. If I am a public figure and I am accused of racism (wright or wrong), me coming out and providing a detailed response about how my words were unprofessional but not racist and then sincerely apologizing for my stupid comments (blame it on heat of moment or whatever) will have a much better PR result than sending in some lackey to do the dirty work for me. People want to hear your clarification. That will put the thing to bed faster than some comments from a third party. Chris Paul will eventually do just this. The longer he waits, the more damaging it is to him.
I'm absolutely fine with your assertion that Chris Paul could handle it better, but my initial claim was Chris Paul being labeled a sexist is baseless and unwarranted. I made no initial claims about Chris Paul's handling on the matter and frankly don't care. I'm more worried about the bigger picture here and the needless desire by the media and the public in general to go on baseless witch hunts on sexism or racism or any other morally reprehensible social construct based on conjecture and emotion where little to no objectivity is applied.
Then you are arguing with the wrong person because we are not on the same plain. I frankly do not care what he implied by what he said. I am just laughing at how he put himself in the situation he is in, how has handled it and now gotten the entire ref union on his ass. The media is merciless. Good luck changing the culture. Paul should have known better before making those stupid comments. As I said, he himself opened up that can of worms.
Don't mind me for a desire to want a more objective media that doesn't prematurely accuse individuals based on conjecture and emotion. You can laugh at Chris Paul while I take a step back and watch in disgust with how the media is degrading itself to sensationalism.
