I have to admit, I've never heard of Chris Palmer before, but his rise and the rise of people like him seems to be an inevitable product of the new climate of sports media. Here's an appropriate analogy: think about it like The Dark Knight. Wojnarowski is like Batman in that he changed the landscape of his field and is unquestionably on top when it comes to being connected and breaking all the scoops. No one can compete. So what do they do? They evolve themselves. The one advantage they have over him is that they are many. If each "sportswriter" puts out the lie that they have a certain player choosing to go to a certain team on the basis of credible (nonexistent) sources, then inevitably SOMEONE will be right, SOMEONE that is not Woj will get the break ahead of him, and by translation Woj won't be on top anymore. ESPN has enabled this new kind of culture, and it is easy for them to cut the chaff when sportswriters who got their guess wrong are exposed for the frauds they are. But can you even blame ESPN really? They are the monster that we have produced. All this is inevitable when information becomes that much more available on a per-second basis.
Can someone help translate this? Q: What do you think about Chris Palmer? Could he be the worst NBA reporter in NBA history? A: Nah but he be on Molly's

I learned what a Molly was from the new Miley Cyrus song And good riddance to this moron. If only it had come sooner. From now on, if anyone posts his tweets as "sources" or anything like it, they should be knocked down to a [CBL] Rookie.
Thanks guys. Rep for everyone just because. As you can tell, I didn't choose the thug life, it chose me.
Comment sections are still there. Yahoo's comment section can be glitchy, sometimes they don't load right. After scrolling down, it can take a few seconds for it to appear. Or it takes refreshing the page to load them. You are right about comments sections, what I call sewage spewage sections. But they're here to stay. The article writer and readers DON'T have to take them seriously or even acknowledge them. Its a way for viewers to stay engaged into the site more, and maybe click on those ads. You're right he's entitled to that opinion. And you're entitled to disagree. As long as he tried to use stats and data to back up the point, an analyst can present a stance. He isnt the only one to make that claim. (I do think its as tough or tougher to score now especially in the paint. It doesnt mean the PLAYERS are "tough" now mentally, it just means they follow better defensive schemes that leads to more missed shots.) But when you "make your bed" in the Lakers/Kobe camp as being a loyal FANBOY, yes its gonna make any opinion look sketchy, non-objective and biased even when its not supposed to be.
You're right - one should AT LEAST have reasonable stats to back up their viewpoint. The type of "stats" he used were often something like this (don't have the quote or exact numbers, but it was very similar to this...). NBA three pt leaders, all time - Kobe : 1,043...Bird : 642 Or something to that effect. IF THAT is the way you argue your "point" or stance that, as was the case when he tweeted this ridiculous mess, Kobe was a better three point shooter than Bird... it's beyond comical. I mean... no mention of attempts... percentage... how the game has changed... how many games were played, etc. Also, when I say no one can convince me it is more difficult to score now than in the "Bad Boys"/MJ days, that includes free throws. There's no question Stern and the league changed the rules to HELP SCORING - and the Derek Harper/Kenny Smith hand checking rules (and touch fouls in general) definitely changed the game. While we LOVED the 94 Finals, the NBA did not...lol. I see your point about the good teams making it difficult to score in the paint, but the touch fouls and whistles and trips to the FT line by the stars is often difficult to watch if you're an old school guy.
Oh, and after the ridiculous tweets like I mentioned (i.e. NBA all time 3pt leaders - Kobe : 1,043, Bird :643), he'd follow it with something laughable like "Just sayin"......lmao
Kobe #1, Pau #6, Metta on the list. Pure trolling. Kobe Bryant will win the 2013-14 scoring title, finish 2nd in MVP voting and make his 16th All-Star Game. — chris palmer (@ChrisPalmerNBA) July 23, 2013 More pure trolling.
Comments are the worst, I don't look at them unless I'm purposely trolling (when there's a picture of a celebrity on the page, a Kardashian or Adam Sandler or someone, I purposely write "and unidentified friend" and that drives people nuts.) I can't speak to the other areas of the site, but we don't turn comments off. In fact, in our most recent publishing system, I don't think I have the ability to turn them off. So that may have just been a glitch (sometimes comments don't fully load for me). EDIT: And I truly do welcome all feedback. We never stop learning from the game, and I don't want to be stuck in the same space, so criticism is just fine -- I've been dealing with rough and tumble emails about my columns since 1997. But just tweet me or email me, I'm not touching the comments.
Kevin Durant, on a team with no Martin, no Harden, and a recovering Westbrook, a year older and better is going to lose to a guy that may not even play enough games to qualify for the title? Wait, what am I doing? It's nice out? Why am I arguing with the ghost of Chris Palmer?
