Outlaw: Love that Trade!!!! Done deal if I am GM and damn it, I am GM in my world Yao Ming is the way to go...I watched some games of him on SKY Sports in Europe and the guy is no Bradley or Muresean. He has offensive game like a young, Saboner...oops freudian slip..Sabonis! he can knock down Js better than anyone on our team currently. He can actually move with the ball and has a nice hook shot already developed..he was catching rebounds with one hand by palming the rebound. He also has a nice short jumper. give this guy a turn around and look out. the only issue is the fact that he is a very tall men and historically, 7'3 type players do not have long careers....but he looked fairly cut..nothing like Razor kneews Bradley
Stoudamire is something to consider but do we really want another high school age pick that may take a couple of years to start producing. If he is available it may be hard to pass him up. I would be worried about him turning into another Leon Smith.
The thing about 'Dinner Bell' Mell or Sam Bowie, is that they both had some talent. As far as Turpin, I don't see Marcus eating his way out of the league. On the other hand looking as Sam Bowie, or perhaps another guy who one might compare a bit so Marcus, in Zydrunas Ilgauskas, you have to be a bit concerned about Marcus' recient foot fracture. Those three were all a bit the same. Really big guys who were big because their garantuan frames and bone structures, (ie not because they were fat or especialy musclebound). They all are/were hard workers, too. One has to wonder whether for guys that big, all the hard work might result in micro-damage to the weight bearing bones of the legs and feet.
I sense a lot of bust potential in Marcus. He's been very injury prone, doesn't come from a big time basketball program. He wouldn't fit on this team, really sluggish. Marcus came about 10 years too late. The new craze is the uptempo center. From what I've seen of him, his style play is similar to Patrick Ewing. He's not going to have an Ewing-like career though. I can't see us drafting Stoudamire. The kid seems incredibly unstable, and I've heard he's RAW. Two years ago, we moved down in the draft. Last year, we moved up. I think this year may be a year in which we trade out. There's a very high value on draft picks lately.
