Right move by the Stros in my opinion. Johnson is 28 years old and at best an average 3rd baseman. Doesn't walk at all and strikes out a lot. Low upside player. His defense is bad for the most part. It is time to see what you got in third baseman Matt Dominguez.

    Nice haul!

@brianmctaggart: The Astros have acquired IF Bobby Borchering and OF Marc Krauss from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for 3B Chris Johnson

Seem like two intriguing players. I believe Borchering is the younger of the two and probably the guy Lunhow wanted more. Borchering was the D-Backs 1st round pick in 2009 and Krauss was the 2nd round pick that same year.

Borchering was the 16th overall pick in 2009. Baseball America rated him as either the #9 or #10 prospect in the Arizona system.

    Stats from MILB.com

    Krauss was a 2nd rounder in 09.

    Atta boy Luhnow, doing work!

    Lee
    Happ
    Lyon
    Carpenter?
    Myers
    Wandy
    Johnson

Took out all our trash and bad contracts! Hopefully a couple of the prospects he has landing will pan out!

Great move to boost the minor league OF depth. There was a huge drop off after Springer and Santana in terms of power and level. This addresses both.

Luhnow is going to have a heck of a time sorting out playing time at AA though. There's already 5 OFers (plus Wates on the DL) at Corpus Christi and Springer slated to get a promotion there soon.

He's pretty much the last piece. Glad we got something for him. Wish Lowrie hadn't gotten hurt, would've loved to see what Luhnow could've gotten for him.

I got to believe Krauss gets promoted to AAA. He is repeating AA this year and has a OPS of .924. Nothing else to prove in AA.

I was ready to release him, can't believe we actually got something for him.

Krauss is older, 24 already, but he's having a monster year in double A. Probably heads straight for OKC.

Don't see anything really promising about Borchering, but somethings better than nothing. I've wanted Dominguez and Wallace in Houston for a while now anyhow.

Love the Astros approach trade every vet and tank for another number one pick while clearing salary for some major FA acquisitions once some of the young talent is ready for the big show.
